    PAL and NTSC

Crud, Crud, Crud... A disc that I really really want (The Secret Policeman's Other Ball) is only availible Pal - Region 2. Now I've been told that my DVD player (Arcam DV 78) can be recoded via the remote to play all codes. In reading the users manual it says related to the TV system settings (Auto | NTSC | PAL) When NTSC is selected "NTSC is always used as the video standard. Note that PAL discs are converted to NTSC, but this causes some reduction in the quality of the video output (and may cause the video to become jerky).

Now the disc is mostly for the music and sentimental reasons, so video quality is not the biggest deal.

So any input, sounds doable to me, but I don't know much about this type of thing.

    just get the DVD!!!

My collection consists of REgion 1 (NTSC) and Region 2 (PAL) and recently even Region 3 (China), since I move continents like other people change their pampers... anyway, I've had many code-free players in the past, recently the RDV-1060 by Rotel and all players are easily hacked and can be set to code-free and the playback quality is the same when not played in the progressive mode. I would say 99% of the time. This is based on my experience, and based on what I've seen and experienced on my projected 100" plus screen over the last 5y.

I don't know your particular player, but go to this site http://www.videohelp.com/ and punch in your players brand and number...

    good luck

      Secret Policemen's Ball Set

OH SNAP! I just got the discs today, it's a box set of all the Secret Policemen's Events and all. Came from Great Britain, not availible in US as far as I could tell.

      Box says...

      Region All PAL

Popped it in and played fine. No adjustment, changing DVD player set up, nothing.

      NICE :P

JVC XV-S6x DVD player (PAL/NTSC) Chip Mod - success
          by Patrick Sun
For those interested in a DVD player that can be modded for multi-region play and already possesses PAL/NTSC conversion/playback, there is a mod chip hack for the JVC XV-S60/62/65 DVD player.

I obtained the mod chip from a guy who mainly hangs around the AVS forum (go there and do a...

Seeking a PAL to NTSC-capable DVD player
          by JazzGuyy
I am interested in obtaining some foreign films on DVD which will be in PAL. I would like to find a DVD player that converts PAL to NTSC so I can use it with my U.S. spec Mitsu RPTV. I know about the Oppos but they only do PAL to NTSC through DVI/HDMI. I have an older set that only supports component...

          A Quickie with the IF5700
          by Citizen Kane
Just pulled the trigger on an IF5700. For me it was at a comfortable enough price point to upgrade from an X1 without worrying too much about what fabulous FP technologies will come out next year.
Two things I cannot comment on; rainbows, I was unaffected by this on my X1 and have no problem...

Can a LCD TV display both NTSC and PAL
          by goe2112
My question is, can a LCD TV display both NTSC and PAL signals if the signals are originating from a multiformat ( multi region ) DVD player ? Does the TV require a special tuner that converts both signals ?

Thank you for input and time.
