i convinced my buddy to get a 5.1 x-series set. honestly, for the price, they sound really really good. this was our first experience with an internet speaker company and he is extremely pleased.

there was a problem in shipping where the x-over board broke in two of the speakers. AV123 gave us the option to either send the speakers back for repair or send us new crossover boards. we got the new boards within a week, which is really good considering we are in korea :T

Shouldn't an option have been to send you new/replacement speakers?

      Just a thought.

I have a pair of satin black X-LSs and I think they are a fine value as far as commercial speakers are concerned. Well finished/built cabinets and a xover with decent quality components is about all one could ask for considering the price. The excellent customer service that AV123 is known for helps as well!

The reason I didn't pick up an X-CS set many months ago when I was jonesing for a quick speaker set was the shipping cost. AV123 offsets their 'sale' prices by jacking up the shipping fees, usually to amazing amounts over UPS cost. B-stock is worse (yes, more shipping for the same item). Otherwise the buzz on the X stuff is pretty good, as long as you realize they aren't going to surpass good speakers costing twice as much. I have had very good service from AV123 before, extra costs aside.

On the DIY side, you could build out Danny's/GRR's kits which are very similar but use better quality parts, and you're not paying to ship a bunch of MDF.

Now for alternatives, you have the 'small' 5.1 systems from svs, and the mildly expensive ascends. If I had to buy, I would get 5 X-CS' all the way around and skip the X-sub and go right for a b-stock PB-10 from svs. Costs more though.

              Modula MT/Natalie P vs. AV123 x-series
              by JCByrd24
I'll be upgrading from my college speakers (Sonys) fairly soon. I'll be doing a DIY sub using the 15" Dayton Hifi in a 7.5cuft vented enclosure tuned to 15Hz. For speakers most recently I've considered SVS SBS-01s and AV123.com x-series, leaning towards the av123 because I could get three of the...

Lexicon MC-12 try DIY repair or send in?
              by Lex
Hey all. As many of you know, my Lexicon MC-12 took a hit and quit working after a storm. The guys down at Pyramid Audio down in Texas said it was probably a power supply, they could fix it, and maybe as I recall possibly upgrade a couple of internals, I would not swear to that. I know that my Aerial...

              Entry level tube/valve amp advice
              by pedro77
              Hi

I'm interested in getting a tube amp and was hoping someone here may have listened to a couple of the amps I'm considering. I basically got interested when I read some rave reviews about the great value of the Miniwatt S1, which has since been superseded by the N3.

              As...
