    NAD is in the house

Hey all. I just received my NAD T752 and have it hooked up. The unit itself is in mint condition as my seller told me. Initially i thought that it was not a very nice looking receiver as it is quite plain but it is growing on me now.
I tried hooking it up with my Rotel RB 1070 powering my fronts and the Nad doing the rest. Sounded good. I then unhooked my Rotel and let the Nad power everything. Sounded just as good. I was quite surprized at this because with my Denon 3805, the rotel was a big improvement in sound.

I found that my DVD player with music sounded better via analog than digital. Quite strange because it is a cheap toshiba player and i thought the DACs in the Nad would be superior to the Toshiba's. I then realized that there was only a difference between the two in "stereo" mode only and not in any of the other surround modes....strange. Anyone care to give their thoughts on why this would be?

I was quite leary about purchasing this model after reading about all the bugs it had initially but my seller told me that this one had all the issues resolved and from what i could tell it was bug free.........until i hooked up my sub. Nothing. I can't get any signal on the test tones. I hooked up my sub to a front pre-out to make sure it wasn't the sub but i got a test tone on it there so it's definitely not my sub. I tried a different cable...still nothing. I did notice that the screw that holds the rca connectors in place on the back was out a couple turns on the sub preout and it was quite loose when plugging it in. I called my seller about this issue and he figured that i must have had some settings screwed up. He then told me that he never used the sub outs but they should work fine.

I am torn because he will take it back and give me my money back but i'm sure i wont be able to find another deal this good again. But on the other hand I'm worried what else might not be working properly that i don't notice just yet or might stop working in the near future.

    Thanx for listening.

If the guy who owned it never had a sub then maybe the sub is off in the audio mix - I assume that you checked for this?

if you mean the on screen display where you set the speakers to small, large, or off then yes, I checked that and the sub was on. Still nothing.

Dang, thats unfortunate. I guess the unit is out of warranty also. Of course it could be something as simple as a bad internal connection or it might not be.

If the guy wants to sell it he will need to get that fixed or offer a further discount.
In Brisbane we have lots of NAD dealers (practically every hifi shop sells NAD here) and one in particular that has a tech guy on staff. If you have access to the same I would get it checked out top to bottom (with the sellers ok). It gets fixed at the sellers expense or it goes back.

There is always another bargain out there, and a bargain is only a bargain if it does what it is supposed to do.

The unit is still under warranty until Sept, through him. He said he would send it in for me and get it fixed but i am still a little hesitant. I'm noticing a high pitched frequency coming through all the speakers when watching movies at higher volumes. Not overbearing or anything but noticable. It is there when i pause the movie as well and even when i turn it off. I'm using optical from my DVD player so there shouldn't be any interference there and i've tried moving my power cords away from everything and it is still there. I'm thinking that with this issue and the sub issue i will send it back and continue my search elsewhere.

Im just curious if you switch out your optical connection and change that to an analog connection, if the high pitched sound goes away. I know NAD has had issues with the optical connections, including dropout. Maybe a simple switch would fix it?

That might have fixed the the speaker noise issue but unfortunately i don't have 5.1 analog outs on my DVD player. And the sub outs on the receiver still aren't working. I sent it back to the guy and he is going to send my my money back. He still insists that I have a setting wrong and therefor have no sub output. Can't wait till he gets it checked out has to eat those words.

Hooking up Martin Logan Sub to Halo C1
                by iceman
I am hooking up my Martin Logan Depth subwoofer to my Halo C1 processor. I am using the subwoofer unbalanced preout connection for hooking up the sub's LFE input for multichannel playback. However, with 2 channel playback, I have to hook up the Left and Right unbalanced preout connection on the C1 to...

                Office 'headphones' and stealth sub
                by GeorgeS
I posted quite some time ago asking for suggestions for an office sub. Thomas recommended a Blueprint 1003, which I thought would be great but somewhat larger than I was planning to build. Having discovered a cache of top secret 'stealth coating' I was able to make the little titan completely disappear....

New 800 Diamonds - Thinking of going NAD
                by Dave-in-AZ
                Hello,

I am the proud new owner of a pair of B&W 800D speakers. I am thrilled to have them and, for my ears, I'm not sure a pair of speakers can sound much better in a home setting for less than many times what I paid for the 800D. That, of course, is highly debatable, so please...

Question about AUX outputs for a Rear Sub.
                by slayer
My question is about programming for a rear sub. I have my front/main sub hooked up to the LFE/sub preout. No problems here. I have another sub in the back of my room and it is hooked up to the AUX 2 output to mimic the main sub. No problems here.
I want to try my rear sub as a dedicated rear...

                NAD M51 Direct Digital DAC
                by JonMarsh
Just ordered; should be in by Monday. These are just starting to become available in the US. I've been looking for something with above average performance but not over $2K, unlike my last two DACs, which while quite satisfactory from a performance perspective, are rather pricey for most of my friends....
