    Amplifier choices; Classe, Bryston, McIntosh

    Hi,

I currently have a pair of B&W 803D and I will be getting the HTM2D Centre and a small set of rear speakers.

At the moment Im using a HK AVR5550.

What I am trying to decide is which amplifier to go for.

    1. 2x Bryston 7B ST Mono Blocks $5000
    2. Bryston 6B SST 3 Channel $12000
    3. McIntosh MC252 $7500
    4. Classe CAV500 5 Channel $8000

Find the above list, I believe option 4 provides the most bang for buck as it is 5x250 watts and will do my entire system.

However, option 1 and 3 are very tempting, but will envolve further upgrading as I add speakers.

And on top of this, I have been offered a Bryston SP1.7 processor

    All prices are AUD.

I have never heard the Bryston but the Classe is un real. I have the Cav 75 on my 804s and the sound is extremely detailed. I have onwed Mac in the past and they were not as detailed on the front end but performed well on the mids and low end.

        Good Luck

Wow. I wish I played in that league for amplification. While each undoubtedly has its strengths, I'd say you're in a can't lose position. I'd probably go with the McIntosh, but largely because I think they look good. Honestly, these three brands are excellent.

You definately won't lose on any of those choices. Those Aussie prices are a little steep for audio equipment. You will enjoy any of those brands for years.

I spent the last couple of years searching and demo-ing electronics to match up with my 803D's, but after obtaining some Mcintosh equipment a few months ago I started second guessing myself on if I had made the right decision or if I should have stayed with my original plan of buying Classe electronics....

                Classe vs. McIntosh
                by mdonda
I am new to the forum after purchasing a Classe CA-3200. When deciding on an amp, I narrowed my choices down to Mcintosh and Classe. It was a difficult decision and I wanted to know if any other Classe owners considered Mcintosh. If so, what were your reasons for choosing Classe?

                Class CAM 350 vs Bryston 14B ST with B&W 802N - opinion
                by amdan
My local dealer had a couple of Classe CAM 350 monoblocks for sale and was kind enough to allow me to home trial. The only reason I trialed them was the loyal Classe following in this forum. Many of you maintain that Classe and B&W are an excellent match. I have also seen a few posts elsewhere saying...

                802d - biamp w/Bryston or get Classe
                by mtlrx
I am considering on getting a Bryston 4BSST and 6BSST for 802D but the cost will be around that of a Classe 5200. Any opinions?

I have the HTM2D with the 805's which are currently being run by Bryston 9b.
