Radio Shack Sound Level Meter RCA Jack?

hello. does anyone know what the RCA OUT Jack is used for on the RS SPL? The instructions just say that it can be hooked up to your audio system but dont really say what the purpose is or how to use it. Also, I would have thought the RCA Jack would have been IN (from the audio system) and not OUT to the audio system.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Thanks!

I have never used the feature, but my guess is that it allows you to hear and/or record what the meter is capturing and adjust your system accordingly (either by ear or with the aid of a 'scope or frequency analyzer) for flattest frequency response.

Yup. It can be used as a microphone with the sensitivity adjusted by the range switch on the SLM. It was specified for and works well with the Meridian Room Correction software. (And I'll be that you thought that Meridian was always very pricey!?!)

yeah theres a lot of programs that will measure frequency response - check out www.acousticsoftwarereview.com theres a list of about a dozen including some free ones.

So I guess you then hook up the SPL to your pc/laptop which is running the software. ? Thus the OUT jack and not an IN jack to the meter.

          Ok, thanks for the responses!
