VCR Recording image No Sound Please Help

I just set up my new Sony HT-DDW700 and i think that it is a very decent HT system for what i spent.
The only problem i have encountered so far after 1 day of ownership is that I can tape a show but the playback has no sound. I tried alot of different things with no luck. The manual indicates that the receiver does not allow recording(DVD or VCR). If this is really the case, i will return the system.

    Can someone please help?

    Thanks,

    Evan

How exactly do you have the VCR connected? It is possible that you hooked up the video but not the audio. Are you recording satellite?

Your receiver doesn't have any type of AV outputs on it to go to a VCR, so your problems are in how your source is connected to the VCR.

The theater system you purchased won't even be involved in the recording process, so no worries.

You need to connect the audio from your cable box to your VCR and not the receiver (both if your cable box has two audio outputs). If you only have one, you can run it back to the receiver using the line outs on your VCR.

That last piece of advice did it. Now it records with sound. The TV and the VCR operate on Video 1. I need to have the VCR on so that i can hear the TV through the reciever.

            Does that sound right?

                G'day,

I'm trying to record the output of my set-top box to my VCR, but I'm not getting any sound. I get the video, but not the audio.

The audio output of the set-top box is connected to the RSP-1068 using an optical cable. The VCR gets audio via analog output from the...

I am new to the HT world. I am planning on purchasing a Rotel RSX-1055 receiver in the next couple of weeks. I have downloaded the owner's manual and see that there are a lot of video inputs/output. Can you explain or send me a diagram of how most of you have your video components (VCR, DVD) and TV...

                Reccomendations on VCR's

I was wondering if any of you could give me a good reccomendation on a VCR. Is there any VCR's with component outputs that are reasonably priced? I am guessing that VCR's Video output is relatively low anyway, so s-video outputs would give about the highest quality of picture, right? I know that JVC...
