Certified Electrician Coming at 8 a.m. Tuesday.....

Got a $400 quote for a new dedicated (grounded) outlet (amp) and for grounding an exisitng outlet (Rest of System).

Don't freak on the price -- we're talking 1920's plaster and lathe walls with random diagonal solid harwood fire stops and a true crawl (max 4ft clearance)attic. Did I mention it was summer in Atlanta Ga, too?

Is there anything I should ask for (or demand)? I'v got 14-2 cable and space for a 20amp circuit.

Please denote comments/suggestions as Dedicated Outlet (DO)
or Rest of System (ROS) outlet.

    Thanks

Is the existing outlet (ROS) dedicated to the ROS only or is it a shared circuit with other outlets? If so, I recommend setting up the ROS circuit as a dedicated system-only outlet as well as the amp (DO) outlet.

The requirements may vary by location, but places I've lived require 12 gauge wire for 20Amp circuits - your electrician should know your code requirements of course.

Make sure he files with the town and it gets inspected by the town afterwords, that way you won't be liable if you get sued if your place burns down.

The filing suggestion is absolutely a must. But also get yourself a copy and keep it in a safe place :T
