PureAV™ Home Theater Power Console PF60
Hi all my first post.
PF60 looks great.
FUL1_AP41300-12.jpg Image is not available
I have a whole house surge suppression system on my main breaker box.
It made a good improvement to both audio and video.
I have three balanced line conditioners. The first was a kit that I modified
to make it sound better.
The other two balanced conditioners I made from scratch.
Two are in my two channel system and one is in my HT system.
I also have dedicated Cryo treated power lines going to
each of the Two Channel(Two lines) and HT system(Two lines).
These can make a significant improvement. Highly recommended!- Bottom

DIY Balanced Line Conditioner
Here is two photos of the project.
The combination of the balanced transformer, the Large Bybee Purifiers and
Auricaps capacitors give excellent sonic results.
This unit is dedicated to my Sony SCD-1 Super Audio Player.
A recent Tweak to all my BPS was to replace the mild steel nut and bolt
that runs through the center of the toroidal transformers with a stainless
"non-magnetic" bolt, nut and washer. Excellent sonic results.

Of course there will be interest. Its probably best to post in the Mission Possible forum. See the following links to past balanced power projects.Originally posted by Robb MacI have all the parts and pictures and links to where to buy them.
I can copy and paste everything to this forum if there is any interest...

DIY (Do it yourself): Cabinetry, speakers, subwoofers, crossovers, measurements. Jon and Thomas have probably designed and built as many speakers as any non-professionals. Who are we kidding? They are pros, they just don't do it for a living. This has got to be one of the most advanced places on the net to talk speaker building, period.

I've been away on vacation and FedEx just delivered it today, so no comparisons yet.Thomas,
How are you liking yours? Can we expect any projects or mods? How does it compare to the Monster?
From the pics I've seen posted on other forum there's no room for any mods.
I think it's a better deal than the Monster 3500II because the PF60 has better EMI/RFI filters and contains ferrite chokes which the 3500II lacks.

Power Wraps
Here is a mod (Tweak) that can be done from the outside of the PF60.

The most effective method of RFI filtration (highest amount of attenuation) involves looping the wire around and through a solid ferrite core. Here is a mod (Tweak) that can be done from the outside of the PF60.
Inside the PF60 there's one such choke on the AC input and one on each of the 6 AC receptacles.

Thomas, I cant find any real specs on this unit, it seems like it might help my situation where I have some audible hum. However I have 4 amps 2- electronic crossovers and a Pre Pro that I need to plug into it and I don’t think it will handle the current during loud passages. Do you know or have any experience as to what the current limiting on this unit is? I have a total of about 3k watts if I add up all the max power ratings on the equipment I would like to plug into it.Originally posted by ThomasWI have one of these on order with Provantage. The $16 for shipping 22+lbs to Denver seems reasonable to me. I ordered it online and knew it was a special order. Shipping date is supposed to be the May 16th. All in all it seems to be a steal at the price... :T- Bottom

Why does the "Power Wrap" device, remind me of the magnet on the fuel line trick?
Boost your gas mileage by ionizing the fuel molecules..
That squirly looking thing on a power line looks suspiciuosly like an Rf antenna to me.
I understand the null effect of a ferrite with a wrap and use them on lots of signal and power cables, and I agree with a braided shield grounded at one end.
Of course twisted paires, yes, but twisty ties? not so sure.Jim- Bottom

The power cord is the size of welding cables (or a dead python) so I wouldn't worry about it's capacity. As cheap as these are buy 2 and use different circuits if you're worried about limiting. These are VERY nice pieces of equipment, I'm amazed they're being sold for $170Originally posted by KingdaddyThomas, I cant find any real specs on this unit, it seems like it might help my situation where I have some audible hum. For months and months www.provantage.com had them for $170. Now your $215 is better than their current pricing

Too bad, I would have bought 2 if they were still $170, guess I’ll settle for one for now and see how it does. BTW I did find out that they are 15 amp units, which is not nearly enough for all my equipment so for now I will leave my sub amp and shaker amp off the conditioner.Originally posted by ThomasWFor months and months www.provantage.com had them for $170. Question for the eletrically inclined
Hi Guys,
I have a Belkin PF60 and like it a lot. With all my gear and tv running at the same time, it registers 3.6 amps being used total. Now, if the outlet puts out 15 amps, I think I am way under where I need to be. However, if the 15 amp outlet puts out 1800 watts, when I add all my amps only, it is over 800 watts just for the amps. Now I know that I will never fully use every watt that the amp can put out, but where does that leave me?
The question is: How do you compare power demands of amps vs. watts. If I put 1800 watts of amp power on a 15 amp outlet, and it registers only 10 amps used, what does that mean? Are we overloading the outlet or do we have 15 amps of reserve power (but no watts)?
Thanks,
Steel- Bottom

Would you say the belkin is better than the new rotel power conditioners, or the rotel?

The power rating doesn't have to match the power consumption. You really have to look out what does the amp is trying to imply. Peak power rating is oftenly used because it has a higher value and it does looks nicer(700watt RMS or 1000watt peak output, which one look better? :B )Originally posted by LikeCoiledSteelHi Guys,

Mostly the power rating says in peak which is not the same as RMS or what you read on the meter(avoiding square root of 2 etc caluclation........... for basic conversion you can use 10amp peak(1100watts) = 7.07amp RMS(780watts)).
Not to mention amplifiers have numerous methods to store up energy/power (multi-capacitors may be tough for AC, but I guess it's possible with current technology)
In short, you won't overload the circuit unless you try to put the whole HT system and the AC and microwave into the same socket :BPioneer KRP-500M

15 amps is more than enough. I have a Monster HTPS7000 with a 40"LCD, Denon 4806, Toshiba HD-DVD, HiDef Cable box and Paradigm Servo15(if I wanted) plugged in and never go over 5A total draw. Plug everything in and enjoy.- Bottom

I just received a Belkin Pure AV model AP30800-10 UPS/voltage regulator I ordered from Provantage.com for $135.94 (that's 2/3 off MSRP). Most of the 1,200VA rated unit's 30lb.+ weight comes from the massive bank of sealed lead-acid batteries. Here are some pics.Last edited by Glen B; 08 August 2006, 12:22 Tuesday.
