Time to make the connections. Advice?

    Good afternoon.
First post here after lurking for a while. I've been bulding my theater for nearly a year and should be ready to actually plug it all in and watch a movie in about two weeks. I've worked out most of the details but now I need to figure out the best way to connect the components. I'm hoping to get a little feedback from those who have been there, done that, and perhaps figured out what gives the best performance.
    My system:

    Denon AVR2105
    Rotel RDV1050
    DirecTV Tivo (SD)
    possibly a VCR
Monster Ref. powercenter HTS3500 (fed by dedicated 20amp)
    HomeTheater Master MX-600
    InFocus SP4805 DLP projector
    Da-Lite 92" model C screen
    Rocket ELT speakers 5.1
    Canare 4s11 speaker cable

My main question is, should I feed all sources into the AVR2805 and connect it to the PJ, or connect the RDV1050 directly to the projector, and let all other sources (DVR, VCR, etc...) run through the AVR2805.
Connection to the PJ will be through component (+ S-video if option #2).

    Thoughts, suggestions, comments... ;x(

    Thanks!

    Michael

First, welcome to HTG :T Second, there are no dumb questions

Now... Depends on your priority. Less connections/cables has the potential for less signal degradation where connecting directly to the PJ should yield sightly increased PQ. However connecting through the AVR has a lot of added convenience (and if I remember, also upgrading to component output) at the cost of arguably undistinguishable signal loss

        Sorry Michael, Welcome here 8)

My preference is always to go directly to display. However, if the specs and reviews promotes good signal transfer and/or upgrade then it maybe convenient as Jason said to go to the AVR. You may not even notice a difference either way.

HEY!! Why buy movie tickets when you can own a Theater?

          Clive, Jason,

          Thank you.
These are the general ideas that have been bouncing around my noggin lately.
I realize that component direct to the PJ is the "best" for pq, but I also realize that there is a lot to be said for the ease of use running it all through the AVR and letting it distribute the various signals. I suppose I'll just need to run some back-to-back tests and see what looks best.

          Thanks again!
