denon dvd 2900 vs. denon dvd 2200

What are the main differences between the denon dvd 2900 and dvd 2200? I recently compared the Rotel rdv 1050 and denon 2910. But from what I have read most of you feel the 2900 is the best option. I already have a Rotel rsx-1056 and rb-1080 and rb991. I looking for a good dvd player for movies and DVD-A disc. Thanks

I believe the 2900 is much better for music and DVD playback than the 2200. The 2910 replaced the 2200 and the 3910 replaced the 2900. The 2900 is on another level (price and performance wise) than the 2200 in every direct comparison I've read.

My 2900 sounds very good for DVD-A/V & SACD with the 1056...Red Book CD was disappointing so I added an Onix XDC-88...I will be upgrading to a Marantz SA-8260 for SACD & CD playback and the 2900 will be for DVD-A/V only.

For the $600 I spent on my 2900 new on closeout I've been pretty happy.

Not Rotel specific, you should get more opinions here.

      Thanks,

I built a spec house two years ago with a dedicated theater. We initially had a Denon 2200 for DVD playback on an Optom H31 pojector. I was unsatisfied with the picture and sound quality so the 2200 was replaced with a 2900. I was so impressed with the PQ and SQ of the 2900 that I bought one for myself.

I have owned both the 2200 and the 2900 and would say, that unless you want to listern to CD's on it which the 2900 is not great at, then there is not a lot of difference between the 2200 and the 2900, PQ wise.
If there is not a great difference between the two price's then go for the 2900.

DVD Benchmark scores the 2900 at 90 while the 2200 is at 83, worth noting. You may want to read their reviews on both. I think even if the 2900 cost a little more it would be worth it, if you can find one. I'd even buy a used 2900 over a 2200.

I got my 2900 at ecost for about $550 shipped a few years ago... they may still have some all along that will be refurbished from Denon.
