Do I Need Bass Management ?

I am putting together the following 5 channel HT system. Based on several threads that I have read I may need a DVD player with some type of base management features.

    Fronts-Signature 805s
    Center-HTM2
Rears-SCM1s or DS7s not sure, any advice?
Sub-Velodyne F100 (10" servo) will upgrade at some point
    Receiver RSX1056
    Amp for front channels-RB1080

Looks like a Denon 2900 may be a good fit here, you can still find a slightly used unit for around $400 to $500, any other suggestions? I am not really worried about upgradeability at this time. I plan on getting all new electronics in a couple years.

    Thanks, Ed

The only reaon your DVD player will need bass management is for DVD-A and SACD. Otherwise the 1056 will take care of any other formats bass management Most current universal DVD players (including Denon players) will have adequate bass and delay options for DVD-A/SACD.

Bass Management...what's a person to do?
      by Andrew Pratt
There seems to be a lot of talk lately on what bass management should or should not be doing. It also seems that there are a lot of assumptions being made about what, where and how this BM should be invoked. I came across a few links that are interesting and suggest that the problem isn't with X but...

      DVDA/SACD Connections to 1066
      by Mike Hayes
I am considering purchasing a Pioneer 563A ($180) universal player to replace my Toshiba SD5700. I am currently using just the digital connection (not using the 5 analog cables for DVDA). This will be my first experience with DVDA/SACD in conjunction with my 1066 so please bear with me.

      Rotel RSP-1066 Bass Management Report

      Hello,

I finally registered since I had something useful to add. More to come.

I've spent a good deal of time characterizing the Rotel RSP-1066's bass management under all input conditions. Below is the link to my web page with Rotel's Bass management report and workarounds...

      RSP980's bass management ?
      by formica
I've got a RSP980 prologic preamp and have been using the 6 channel analog input with my DVDA player. My question has to do with how the preamp deals with the LFE output in different modes, particularly in the 6 channel bypass mode. The reason being that if I adjust my sub level using the integrated...

      Bass management current status
      by Dre J
The functions of the RSP-1066 are still the same as stated in my Bass management report.

The only difference is the ability to turn the Sub level to off for the different modes (Stereo, multi, dts, dd, etc.) with 1.48 (2.24) and above.

The multi-channel input is still the...
