    Remote Controls????

    Hello,

The girlfriend just broke my "MARANTZ 2000" remote control. After being rushed to the hospital, I can now get a new remote. We need some ideas!!

    It will be used for:
    Toshiba HDTV
    Rotel 1068 & RT-02
    sony DVD
    Pioneer DVD
    Comcast HDTV cable
    Yahama CD player
    Pioneer Lazer Disc player.

    thanks
    June

Depending on budget, the Pronto Pro TSU-7000 is awesome! :T

The MSRP is US$999, but you can get it online for around US$550-575.

If that's more than you're comfortable with, you can get the black and white version, the TSU-2000 for around US$300-325.

P.S. I've got two of the RC2000 MkII's and I'll be replacing the one in the theater room with a Pronto (hopefully the 7000) when it dies.

If you are a "button pusher" as opposed to touch screens, I'd highly recomend the Home Theater Master series.

Logitech Harmony remotes are great. I have the 688 (paid $150 CDN) and it works great with a mix of Yamaha, Toshiba, Sony and Motorola gear.

The smart-state technology works as advertised and the 'help' button has completely eliminated the need for me to manually help people out if something gets out of sync between the remote and system.

Ditto. The Harmony 880 is probably one of the best around.

The TSU6000 is no longer being made. It was replaced with the TSU7000 for the color model. there's also the TSU3000 which is much cheaper but has a black and white (well greyscale) screen. For the money the pronto's offer a world of flexibility that most fixed button remotes simply can't match. The common complaint is that the LCD screens don't offer enough of a tactitle response to make them that user friendly...which is true in part but the newer units have lots of hard buttons that you can set up for common functions so you don't actually need to use the LCD as much as it might first seem...at least if its well programmed I've been programing them for a number of years now and still use a couple of older TSU1000's in my home.

I have owned the Universal Home Theater Master MX-500 and MX-700. Fantastic remotes! I love the tacticle feed back and the great feel of the gem stone buttons on the MX-500/700/800/850 remotes. Great programability as well.

I like not having to look at the remote in order to change channels and perform other functions. Touch screens do have the advantage in the "WOW/COOL" department but I will take the functionality of a hard button remote any day over a touch screen.

Hello June, I am using the Pronto TSU-6000 colour and it works excellant. I use it for 9 components in one room, and 3 components in another and it operates excellant. The one most important function is that my wife can now enter "watch movie" and she doesn't have to run for cover trying to start up the ht system. Thanks to Mr. Pratt, there is ht "harmony" in this household. Overall it works great, I also use the rf extender with it. Works in either room, no problems.

HT masters gets my vote! I have the MX-700 and I love it! Have used the MX-850 a bunch too. Awesome remotes.

For higher-end remotes I suggest you check out the following:

                            * Philips have replaced the ProntoPro TSU-7000 with a newer model TSU-7500.
                            * Nevo SL (http://www.mynevo.com/html.php?page_id=22) is vvverrrrry cool.
                            * Also check out the Sony Navitus (http://bssc.sel.sony.com/Professional/navitus/) which has a colour touch-screen with tactile feedback! Can be had for around $450.

Perusing this URL should help with your decision:

                              Remotes

I heard the 880 is a nice remote (color) if you don't have to program a lot of equipment. I am partial to the MX-850 due to it's programming capabilities.

                              Good luck,

                              Azeke

Get the Logitech 880. You can do all the functions with one hand and drink a beer with the other. Ohh life is good.

                                      hello all,

I'm going to get the "LOGITECH HARMONY 676." We found it on-line for $106.00.
Anyone know the stand by time when changing batteries?
