    Power conditoner/surge protect. decision ?

I dont have one at this time so i'm asking if anyone could advise me between 2 units the Belkin PureAv PT31 or the Panamax 5100.Both of these units are in my price range.I'm currently using a strip surge protector.Would like to benefit from a good unit.FWIW i do sometimes get momentary power surges here in miami,fl.Would appreciate the help.thanks

Do they do any voltage regulation and/or brown out protections as well? If not I'd say there's better options.

Either get a unit the does voltage regualtion and brown out protection as well as surge protection for the same money or pay an electrician to add whole house surge protection and run dedicated lines to your HT gear.

Both products have good specs, including overvoltage/undervoltage shutdown and seem to be worth about the $350.00 asking price.

With that info I'd get the Panamax as well. I'll reccommend a look at APC's HT products as well as you could likely get something of equal quality for less money

Brown outs are the opposite of power surges basically. You're supposed to have a constant 110V but ocassionally that jumps higher (surge) or dips lower (brown out). Both can damage equipment.

Noise reduction helps if you have to share the line with other components. Most outlets will have additional outlets connected to them in a chain back to your box. Add enough components in, especially ones that tend to add electrical "noise" to the line, and you can end up with a pretty messy signal. That's were noise filtering comes in handy or even better a dedicated line that has no other connections to allow noise in in the first place

Anyone using a Whole House Surge Suppressor ???

Do they affect sound quality vs. not using one ???

Here’s the blurb I found for the APC: “APC’s Residential Surge Suppressors are the first line of defense against damaging electrical surges and spikes that originate...

Over the past year I've spent way too much money on my HT upgrades. The purchases will more than likely continue this year.

What do you suggest to protect my gear from power surges and brown outs?

I'm not a believer in line conditioners improving the sound of my system,...

I've been looking for a power conditioner/suppressor for some time, but can't commit. I hear a few people here use the Belkin PureAV PF60's. Anybody use the PureAV PF30? It looks like it may have most of the same features. Amazon has a killer deal on it right know. I guess my concern is if it uses...

I own a Marantz SR5600 and have built the front 3 speakers. The impedances dip low in some spots for these speakers, but I've not had any issues until today. I typically listen with the volume at -29, but for movies or music when I want them loud I go as high as -13, but -19 or -17 usually does the...
