What is CVBS-How would this be connected to the TV

    Hi,

Upon looking at a philips HTS, I found this specification for connectivity to the TV:

    Connections
    • Audio input:
    - analog : AUX
    - digital : 1 x cinch
    • Audio output:
    - analog : Line out (cinch)
    - digital : 1 x cinch
    • Video output:
    - CVBS (Yellow cinch)
    - S-Video (Hosiden)
    - Component video (Y, Pb, Pr)
    • Antenna : FM coax, MW loop
    • Speakers : socket connectors

Whereas if the TV has only standard RCA connectors for Input and Output(Video In, Left Audio In, Right Audio In) and Out , how will the HTS and DVD get connected. Will the normal TV channel sound benefit from the Surround sound of the HTS. I am totally clueless. what is "cinch" and what is CVBS.

      Got it for CVBS

CVBS is "Composite Video Blanking & Sync", a standard video signal. You
simply connect the yellow phono socket aka RCA aka cinch aka Video Out(also called CVBS)to the video input on the TV. Audio has to be transferred separately using Right Audio in and left Audio In.

hmmmmm......I think I have gone insane.....I asked a question on this forum and then searched searched and searched and then answered it also myself.
