    Too good to be true???

Any comments on the Onkyo 801 receiver? Has been one of the receivers I've been looking at along with Marantz 7400, and HK640. I found an amazing deal on the 801 for $599.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this model and can offers some feedback.

Onko Receivers (as a generalisation) do not sound as nice to most peoples ears as either the Marantz or Harmon Kardon you were comparing them to. "not musical - electronic" would sum this up for many people's ears...

So listen very carefully to make sure you like the sound (some do) before buying. Personally I would take the Marantz...

Testing B&W with McIntosh & Marantz
      by audioqueso
I'm curious about a test I want to do. So I would like to get people's opinion about this test.

I have $4-5k budget that I have to improve my B&W Nautilus 805/HTM2 setup. I currently have a Marantz SR7002 AV receiver powering them.

I've been wanting to audition McIntosh...

      Marantz 8801 - setting expectations?
      by JonMarsh
When I got the email with Trond-Erik's new Pro-Pro, something about that rang a bell. The bell was related to an AV Forums post by a guy with high sensitivity speakers comparing the Benchmark AHB2 amplifier and the M22 and some other amplifiers. One of his bugaboos was output noise, and noise that could...
