Hey, Kev -- I own "Pure Disco" and "Pure Disco 2" even though I don't have the excuse of being a DJ -- these discs are "must haves" because they contain a lot of great songs, mostly by the original artists. :>) Now, looking at the play list, that "Pure Disco 3" does look like one only a DJ "must" have... :>)

      Ha, too funny guys!

John I will resist and stand tall!

Jason, nothing doing, I'm keeping this baby purely for conversational purposes. I mean who actually owns stuff this bad? I probably owned most of those songs at one time as well by the original artists, but most of them are lost to my cassette collecting days

I can't say how much of a kick I have gotten by pulling this disk out today... Thanks for the fun guys :T

Maybe I should go through my vinyl collection.. ? I know I have quite a few doosies there ops:

My favorite album that "audiophiles" try to make me ashamed of is Iggy Pop, "Lust for Life" . I find if I put it on my record player or bring it up within a circle of audiophiles I get one of two reactions. There is the confused look that comes from the guys that try to figure out if he was a contemporary of Mozart or Art Pepper. Or, there is the look of horror (sort of like the look I give when I hear Diana Krell's name come up) from the guys who know who he is but, think that the Beatles are real rock and roll and anything that came after is garbage.

Hey, I like Diana..... Krall Bob :throwat:

That said I like Iggy too. One of my favorite songs is "Candy" with Kate Pierson.

I'm a 70's and 80's rocker at heart, although I've really come to like a lot of the rebel country music. I hate to admit that I really love listening at home to Saturday Night Fever and the Bee Gees. Don't tell anybody!

Like the Budweiser representative confided to a billion people during the Super Bowl: "I won't tell anyone if you won't". Your "secret" is safe with us. :>)

Actually, the Bee Gees did a great job on the sound track of "Saturday Night Fever". Nothing to be ashamed of there, unless you dress up in disco duds while listening and strut around like John Travolta did on the dance floor in the movie. That would be a good reason to keep the shades pulled down. :>)

Well, my deepest musical secret is here..... I love this CD.... Not because I'm a trekkie, I just love his 'interpretation' if you could call it that, of some really great American songs and ballads. Love of the common people, Martin, Abraham and John and I really like Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town.... I could give the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins a miss, mind you....

It's 'Highly Illogical' by Leonard Nimoy......

nice topic...surprised at some of the replies.

from the early posts - Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Bee Gees, Cuture Club, Spandau Ballet, Billy Idol...That's good stuff! I proudly own these CD's!

anyway, mine is a CD I am ashamed of even having

It's a remix /remaster that isn't even done by the original artists, but for some reason it seems fitting as it only adds to the Cheezey irony of this... It's charm is it reminds me of when your eating in a Chinese or other Asian restarant and they have popular disco music playing in the backgroud with a Asian slant. :W :roflmao:

When I first bought this album I was disapointed that it wasn't even the original Artists, but lsitening to it now, it has a fresh sound that is likeable for some reason or another :T

I think I bought this at Walmart for $4.00 about 6 years ago :B

I have to answer: on a less-than-six-buck-per-copy Madacy release, not a chance -- they couldn't afford him. Besides, Wacko Jacko wouldn't be caught dead wearing so little makeup.

The Neil Diamond Collection -- he had some interesting lite-rock hits way back when, but he should have left "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" to The Hollies (who made it a hit).

I guess if The Band could have him on stage with them in the same concert (The Last Waltz -- not on the "Collections" album) where they also teamed up with Eric Clapton, Joni Mitchel, Dr. John and Bob Dylan, this Diamond may not be so rough after all. :>)

Some artists whom I DO like (and still listen to) and am not ashamed to admit are: Emmylou Harris (her "Quarter moon in a ten cent town" album is still one of my favourites); Barbra Streisand; Simon & Garfunkel; Moody Blues (still my favourite rock band); Alice Cooper; Crystal Gayle (would you believe, her music got me through some stressful exam times when I was studying at university during the early 80's); Slade; Heart (I have their "Alive in Seattle" DVD - great to see the Wilson sisters rockin' after so many years); The Carpenters (I was devastated when Karen passed away - was it in '82? - I love their music to bits), Abba (of course).

An artist whom I did like (as in really dig) as a teenager, whose music I don't own anymore and whose music I wouldn't be seen dead listening to ... John Paul Young especially one of his songs "Yesterday's Hero". ops:

                                                  Hey Shadow,

Your picture doesn't do you justice with music like that you must be at least 50 ! ! !

BTW - I also love Emmylou and most country rock groups as well.

We must ge together to compare notes.
