Late Night Jazz (Rebound Records)- Various Artist

Late Night Jazz - 314-520303-2 Rebound Records

In music a lot of it is hit and miss. Unlike movies and equipment, there isn't a ton of info to help one decide on taking a chance on new material. And my choosing this disc was no different. I just stumbled across it while browsing and gave it a shot.

Well this time I was rewarded. While the sound quality on this disc is just average, the tracks compiled on this disc are stunning.

Oscar Peterson Trio, Stan Getz, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker and The Hebbie Mann Nonet are just some of the great artist on this cd. And with songs like "Night Train", "Smoke gets in your eyes", and "My funny valentine" the variety is plenty.

I highly recommend giving this a listen.

Sorry John (and George). It would be easier to keep you two straight if you didn't look so much alike. :B

My observation of center channel usage at a United Artist theater.
              by John Holmes
Last night my wife and I saw Ghost of Mars. It was decent but, not as good as I had hoped. Though it did have it moments.

Anyhow, while watching the film, I was intrigued at how quite the center (dialog) was. At first it seemed too soft but, after five minutes I realized it was perfect....

Which artist and or group dominates your music collection?
              by John Holmes
Fourplay is easily my favorite music group, period. Then I realized, I'm still short atleast two or three of their releases.

Then it came to me, thru my late teens and early twenties, I was a serious Prince fan. OMG! I own every U.S. released album! That means I own more vinyl from...

How many records do you own?
              by John Holmes
              I have 267 Lp's and 1 45.

Quite a few titles I purchased while in Germany so, the artwork (cover) differs from the United States release. So replacing them would be difficult to say the least.

I've been meaning to place them on some digital format, but, never decided which...

Audiophile Recordings at Real World Records?
              by Russ L
I just checked out Peter Gabriel's label Real World Records and theres a large selection of world music. I know that his label uses excellent ADAs from Prism Audio. The same as used by Lord of the Rings @ Apple Studios and at Chrysalis Records. Has anyone bought CDs from Real World? I also listened...

              The evolution of an artist
              by John Holmes
Today I was listening to an album, George Benson's White Rabbit (CTI Records 6015). My copy happens to be on vinyl and sounds great. The notes show it was recorded at Van Gelder Studios, Rudy Van Gelder, Engineer. November 1971.

While enjoying this I began to realize how much Benson's...
