    Let's play music trivia

A couple of Monkeys related questions to get the ball rolling.

    1. Who is rumored to have coveted the role of the cute monkey, finally played by Davey Jones?

    2. Who was the opening act for the Monkeys during their Hollywood bowl appearance? Hint here: My now wife was there.

Sheesh, zero here, too. I couldn't stand the Monkees. My kids used to go around singing their theme song until I was ready to commit Hari Kari.

Okay, the answers are going to really, really, really surprise you, but I'm going to wait a day or so more to see if anyone gets them.

I'm also hoping that others chime in with their trivia questions.

        But, you will be surprised...

No, not Dudley Moore, but, you know what, he would have probably worked out pretty well. That's a good guess and deserving of a big smiley. Actually, your second guess wasn't half bad either.

Maybe it's time for a clue or two.

              1. There is a connection between the person in question #1 and acadamy award winning director, Roman Polanski.

              2. A lot of attention was paid to the teeth of the performer in #2.

Trivia question #1 could be urban legend.
              Trivia question #2 is true.

                The first one: Jack Nicholson

The second: Burt Lancaster and his band.

   Just joking. C'mon, Keith tell us the answer.

Wouldn't you have been shocked if you got it right George.

                  Okay,

                  1. The rumour is that Charles Manson was really interested in being a monkey and was using his friendship with Dennis Wilson of the Beachboys toward this end. Some say it didn't happen though. The Polanski connection is that Sharon Tate was married to Polanski at the time of the murders.

                  2. My wife, teeny bopper that she was, went to see the Monkeys and this weird guy that played guitar with his teeth named Jimi Hendrix opened for them. Talk about odd pairings.

I'm hoping someone else has some trivia questions.

8O Ok the answer to the first question is just plain scary. What if he got the part. Would he have been any differant? And if so would any of the subsequent actions on his part have been commited. And from there a differant ripple of reality would have been created. :wtf:

Dan - Thanks for the BIG smiley

OK - my turn. This is the only music trivia that has always stuck in my head.

                      WHO discoverd Van Halen?

You really have me stumped here, but, from the way you typed your question, I'll guess Pete Townshend, but that's a total stab. Now, we find out if "WHO" is significant. Is Eduardo the master of clever ways to drop clues???

Sorry to throw you off. "WHO" meant an actual person and not a company. But good try.

                                Okay, here's an easy one.

What was unique about the way Jimi Hendrix played guitar? No, not the style. I'm looking for something mechanical. . . .

George is right! He didn't have any money for a left-handed guitar so he simply bought a right-hand model, turned it upside down and didn't even re-string it. My source is a good friend (musician) who studied lots of guitar "greats".

                                              Next. . . .

How about we have more than one question going at a time?

Would keep things moving along better. Anyway, I'm kind of hoping a certain HUGE Sinatra fan might give us one on the man himself.

Here's one: No google searches now. Who was the first performer to refuse a Grammy Award?

I thought Paul Anka wrote it, too, but he only co-wrote the lyrics with a French gent by the name of Gille Thibault. The music itself was actually written by two other Frenchmen: Jacques Revaux and Claude Francois.
However, Anka took the song to Sinatra because he felt the lyrics fitted him to a tee.
