Again, we have a winner in taz. Peter Gabriel was the answer I was searching for. Gabriel's 4th album was named "Security"{1982}, however. I think Seal's third album was "Human Being" {if my research is correct}.

PG1 was known as Car, 2 was known as Scratch, 3 was known as Melt and 4 was known as Security, but the official titles were Peter Gabriel.

Ritchie Blackmore did the Guitar licks on whose cover of Smoke on the Water?

In my best alec trebek voice, I am sorry but no that is not who I was looking for. Try again and remember Ritchie Blackmore said that he was both amused and honoured by the request so he did it.

Oh, was it Pat Boone? Your "amused and honored" comment triggered a thought.

Another one. They sang together for the first time in either Joni Mitchills kitchen or Cass Elliots living room and decieded to start a group. Who are they?

So that was a little to easy, lets try this one.
Like Bo Diddley he couldn't find a guitar that played the way he liked,so he and his father built one that sounds halfway between a Gibson and a Fender. PS he still plays the same guitar with his own design for the vibrato.

Guitarist is missing the tips of two fingers. Lost them in an industrial accident just days before quitting to enter the studio for their first album. Had to loosen the strings because of the pain , giving a sound that influenced almost every metal band after. The band was a quartet of foundry workers in Birmingham , real salt of the "Earth".
Also , the bass player was a rythm guitar player when he joined , so that's how he played the bass. The combination made for a unique sound-add the "batty" singer and you're there.....

On a related topic, Phil Keaggy has made several flattering comments about David Beegle, the lead guitarist for the group Fourth Estate that I posted about here about a month ago. He does his own solo guitar work now, and it's pretty amazing, too.
