    Miles Davis at Newport 1958

This is a 24 bit re-mastered recording, never before released in this country. 6 trackes on this CD, akin to something called "White Heat", rather than the sound of Kind of Blue. It's a nice CD with these songs and includes an introduction by Willis Connover

    Straight, No Chaser

    Two Bass Hit

    The Theme

On this CD, recorded at the Newport Jazz Festival in Newport Rhode Island are Miles Davis, trumpet, Cannonball Adderley, alto Sax, John Coltrane Tenor Sax, , Bill evans on Piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums.

This CD is taken from the Complete Columbia Recordings 1955-1961. I saw this set when I purchased the Definitive Overview of Miles Great Columbia years. but the Complete set was 98.00! Ouch. vs, my 4 CD set at 36.99. Not only that, but as far as I could see, the expensive set hasn't been remastered. This CD has, in 24 bit splendor, and the Definitive Overview is 20 bit.

I give Miles at Newport :4:

It sounds as if Miles has taken you to a new level.

I agree, the remaster seems like the best buy in many areas. Though if you are the collector type, the other set maybe the one that's worth something down the road. But, I would by the remaster!

      Miles Davis STACK

For doubters about the size of my Miles Davis CD collection, lol. I tended to focus on the Niles collection that fetured John Coltrane on Sax, that's just ultimate jazz right there. Those two cats could make it happen!

This does include my Round About You CD that just crapped out, so...

from today's edition of "The Writer's Almanac"

It’s the birthday of jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis (1926). He was born in Alton, Illinois, and grew up in East Saint Louis. His family was fairly well off, a fact he liked to remind people of, since they tended...

Guys a few weeks ago my wife and I had the great pleasure of watching the movie Finding Forrester. anyway there's a song that plays during the credits that captured our ears so we actually ended up sitting in the theater listening to the song well after everyone had left. That song was Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's...

Sometimes, we are all "Kind of Blue"
      by Lex
Well, I done went and done it now. Always passed Miles Davis in the jazz section and thought, ahh, it's old stuff, probably not recorded to well, though I knew Miles was good.

Tonight, I searched the jazz archives of my local Disc Exchange for something to purchase. I saw one of those...
