A redbook CD track sounding better than 2Ch DVD-A?

I am a bit surprised... when I compared the CD track of "Danny Baily" on Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" to the 2CH DVD-A track of the same song... I liked the CD track better. :scratchhead: The mix seems different, and I feel that the original CD's balance is leaner, but has more impact (emotional, and dynamic).
Does anyone have these two recordings to compare? Is it just me?
Has anyone else run into the same thing with other recordings?

I found I like Santana's Supernatural cd better than the DVD-A I have of the same recording. Both sound great, but like you said I find the cd more involving and dynamic.

CD versus DVD – Redbook versus Hi-Rez – Big gains versus small ones

Last night I put on the bonus DVD that accompanies the Neil Young “Prairie Wind” CD. On the main menu I noticed a high resolution audio option. It’s an audio-only 24-bit 96 kHz recording of the whole of the “Prairie Wind” album. The quality of this recording was so good that I listened to...

      DVDA/SACD Connections to 1066
      by Mike Hayes
I am considering purchasing a Pioneer 563A ($180) universal player to replace my Toshiba SD5700. I am currently using just the digital connection (not using the 5 analog cables for DVDA). This will be my first experience with DVDA/SACD in conjunction with my 1066 so please bear with me.

Help on setting up for DVDA
      by Danbry39
Just bought my first DVDA, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and need to know how to set up the Rotel 1066. Denon 1600 DVD player to output DVDA. Right now, I've placed the disc in the 1600 and sound seems to come out of all speakers after I pushed the Multi Imput button on the Rotel's front panel. The display...

      by Ballistica
I've been researching speakers and am inquiring about the best B&W for clearly reproducing and imaging 24bit/96 concert recordings. The B&W site lists Frequency Reponse and Frequency Range in their specs...which one of those is more important? The +-3db one? For 24/96 recording, which one...

RDV-1060 update to fix DVDA, does exist!
      by Kevin D
Just to let you know, Mike at Rotel definately knows about the DVDA problem that reverts the 1060 to SCART mode, and they have an update. I know some people got the update, while others were getting the run-around..

They were pretty serious about saying you could really mess up your...
