And here I thought VHS was staging a comeback.
: (watched a movie with my daughter on VHS the other day--still no region one DVD, let alone Blu-ray of 1492: Conquest of Paradise).
As for vinyl, the article is on the fence, as it should be. It may be "hip" at the moment but I'd not salt away retirement funds investing in its "comeback". 2% of music sales is much closer to a ceiling than a floor.- Bottom

The first time I heard a well made album on a good turntable , time slowed down a little for me. I found myself sitting amongst The Hollies , amazed by the invisible guitarist I could hear right in front of me, startled by the entrance of the bass as it strutted across the stage behind me , and yanked to my feet by the razor sharp attack of the drum. Then Graham Nash told me about a Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress!) he seemed to know.
A few years ago I was fortunate enough to go with a friend to audition new CD players. Good disc players. Ayre , MacCormack , Esoteric. With Hollies CD in hand , we listened to that album through an Ayre CD player , a Mark Levinson pre amp , and a pair of Bryston 14BSST amps feeding Revel Salon speakers. The album sounded great. Near perfect as far as I could tell. Except Mr. Nash didn't seem to want me up there with them this time. He was content to play flawlessly while I sat in the front row and listened.
The above is the difference between digital and vinyl for me. The Yahoo article just made me sad. I've heard some of the new releases on vinyl , and they will finish killing the medium. Crap like the black frisbees Jack White is putting out will entertain the hipsters until the next fad. By the time it truly dies the loss won't be as great , because records are 'a thing' now. They aren't The Music anymore. RIP , Vinyl.Lee

This was released on dvd this week. It will replace a well worn vhs tape when I pick it up over the weekend. Hope the PQ is okay, as well as the soundtrack. For all you CSI fans, here's an opportunity to see a younger William Petersen playing somewhat of a slimeball lawman.

by choppiHello - This is my first post on this forum.
I have a large (1,500) collection of VHS movies and, through my system, they sound very good. Therefore, I have no desire to switch to DVD (although, in time, I will get a DVD player for the same reason I finally got a CD player; the analogue formats...-
