Cambridge Audio Azur 840W sound quality in Mono ???

Anybody had the chance to listen to a Cambridge Amp 840w in Mono or Bridged Mono configuration, and if so, how would you rate the sound quality compared to normal stereo operation. I'm interested to know, as I heard many things about amps sounding more distorted or less clean in bridged mode. Now this amp offers the option of going mono without bridging also, so I don't know if that will change the characteristics, and yes I want that much power.

Hello. I would love to know the answer to your question. I have an 840W and I'm thinking of bridging my amp (along with buying another one in bridge mode), but I do not want to degrade sound quality by even 1%

    Thank you

I may be wrong, so I should probably keep my mouth shut.....Dream on...

As I remember, 'bridging' a stereo or 2ch amp typically will double the distortion level.

While doubling anything sounds significant, does it really produce degradation in sound quality that you can actually perceive?

And what about the added transient response?

Would that more than make up for any perceptible 'distortion'?

        Rotel to Cambridge?
        by Jnorth1178
I presently own a Rotel RC 1072. I am thinking of buying the new Cambridge Azur 740c. My Stereo Guru says that this would definitely improve the quality of sound in my system. My system includes: Primaluna Prologue Three Pre amp. Anthem MCA 20 amp, B7W 8-5s speakers. I would like to get ideas from...

        mono bridging classe ca-2200
        by mclasse
I currently have classe cp-500 and the classe ca-2200 with 802D speakers.

I intend to purchase an additional ca-2200 amplifier. However, the cp-500 only has one balanced and onbalanced output. As a result it is in theory not possible to connect two ca-2200 to the cp-500. However, someone...

Upgrade of 804S system to 802DI system

I am considering (maybe dreaming) upgrading my current B&W 804S 2 channel system with a Denon 3805 125 watt AV Receiver, Denon DCM 380 CD player and a B&W ASW CM subwoofer. My room is quite large and extends 5 feet behind my listening area and has 18 foot high ceilings. I know it has been discussed...

        Cambridge Audio Azur 640C, wow
        by Orange Peel
I ordered one of these in silver for my system, and it arrived today so I gave it a work out. I put in some regular CD's that I am used to listening to on my Denon DVD 1600, but none of them really impressed me with the Denon, I always thought there was something missing. Well that is no longer an...

This came to my attention because of a flyer from Audio Advisor offering this unit for just $999.99 on April 1. (no fooling).

While the performance is not quite up to the standards of say, an AURALiC Vega,...
