I still have an unopened Jerry Garcia 8-track tape that I bought for probably $.50 at a thrift store years ago. Wonder what I'd get for it on eBay?

        It was a 1972 Oldsmobile Toronado and my friend’s 74 Cutlass 442.

In the consul tape holder bin were Roy Buchanan, ELP, Cat Stevens, Bowie, Steppenwolf, GFRR, BTO, Ted Nugent and Robin Trower to name a few off the top of my head.

            Fun thread.

Didn't have many, but I remember:

            Quicksilver - Shady Grove
Sons of Champlin - The Sons
            Beach Boys - Sunflower
            Chicago - CTA
Grand Funk - Closer to Home

I guess maybe a dozen others... there must've been some Beatles, Zep, Stones, Jimi in there, but that was a mighty long time ago, and I just plain old forget.

The player was a no-name portable with speakers and a headphone jack... it was a good companion on my Navy ship, ca 1970-73... and the car it rode around in was a 57 Chevy.

Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring
production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.

The only 8 tracks I remember listening to were some old country music songs in my Grandpa's old oldsmoble. Country music .... Johnny Cash and some others. Can't remember since I was like 8 years old at the time.

Procol Harum, Trower, Joe Cocker, and BTO rule!!!

Didn't listen to any of mine...only 11 when my Dad bought a cassette player for the car. All of my older cousins at the time said "Phoey on the cassette player, it isn't going to last. Get an 8 track player". Well I guess it was kinda like the beta/vhs, hd-dvd/blu ray battle...
My wife has some 8 tracks still in storage. I asked her one day why she was keeping them...sentimentals reasons.

My buddy Kyle had and 8-track in his room. We'd listen to my albums, stuff like Rare Earth - In Concert Live and Deep Purple - Machine Head and then he'd get the tape of them. But, seeing all the trouble he had with that thing I never bought into the 8-track fad. I was a very early adopter of cassettes, though.
