    Receiver Frustrations

I am having some serious problems/frustrations with my 8 month old 605. My problem occurs when i try to hook up my newly acquired sub up to my sub pre-out. Up to now i have never hooked up a sub to this receiver. I know for a fact that my sub is operating properly.
When I hook up the sub and run audyssey, I only faintly hear the sub during the configuration process. After it has completed, I hear nothing from my sub when watching a DVD on DD5.1. My dvd player is bitstreaming DD5.1 and my 605 is set to DD5.1 but no sub signal at all. My 5 other speakers have no problems. I called onkyo support guy and he informed me that the sub preout is supposed to output 1v when activated, and that I will more than likely have to send my receiver in for repair. I went so far as to hook up a rca cable(with exposed leads on the other end) to the sub preout in order to test the supposed 1v with a voltmeter and nada.....no signal at all.
Am I overlooking something simple, are my receiver settings wrong or am I indeed stuck with a faulty receiver? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

What are the speaker settings after running the setup software? Many of setup programs measure speakers as "large" when they should be set to "small".

Can you set up you receiver just for 2 channel playback. If you have test CD that can produce test tones you could try measuring the pre-output with an AC volt meter. Try an 400Hz test signal without using the receivers low pass filter.

You should be able to measure about 1 volt, if it's working. This would rule out a broken output and point to a receiver configuration problem. Other than that I don't know. I don't use surround sound or a receiver.

          Don't need a receiver/processor?
          by impala454
So I'm about to do some rearranging of my setup, as I used to have a ton of stuff and a bazillion wires, and over the past year have sold off all my game systems, as well as dropped cable tv and no longer run a windows media center comp (I know, I'm getting boring :P). I'm trying to go rather minimal...

          AV receiver technical questions
          by dayneger
I'm pondering finally moving into HT and could use help with a couple of questions!

First, can the output levels be adjusted to level out speakers of different efficiencies? My front LR are approximately 87db and the rest likely 84db.

Second, can receivers of the lower...

          sub crossover problems
          by kylek100
I have a Denon 3805, B&W 805S's and a Velodyne DD-12. I was just testing the frequency response using a tone generator in my computer, and I was starting to notice that my main speakers are attempting to play frequencies far below the crossover point. In other words, when I was playing 15 hz, the...

I am hooking up my Martin Logan Depth subwoofer to my Halo C1 processor. I am using the subwoofer unbalanced preout connection for hooking up the sub's LFE input for multichannel playback. However, with 2 channel playback, I have to hook up the Left and Right unbalanced preout connection on the C1 to...
