For $399 gets you a controller with a color screen. This should compete nicely with the Sonos.

Wow! I've been away from the squeezebox forums for awhile lately. Totally missed this.
For us current owners - kinda stinks. $299 for the controller only?!?! Would have thought $150 tops. For new buyers, very nice at $399 for the Duet System.
I cant justify that price for the controller. Oh well.

Yeah, I have been on the fence trying to decide what to do. I think I will wait to see some reviews before taking the leap.
With Logitech buying Slim Devices awhile back, I was hoping for a better "controller". Perhaps something with a bigger screen.
The price is certainly pretty good for somebody just getting into the lossless digital music arena.Last edited by Dean100; 06 February 2008, 12:57 Wednesday.- Bottom

Well, the controller looks nice. Bigger screen would have been better but it will do. But I dont like that they dont have a screen on the receiver. I like that you (and everyone in the room) can read whats playing on the SB3. With the new receiver - you have to look at the remote.Rotel 1068, Rotel 1060, Rotel 1055, Rotel 1095, Rotel 956, Rotel RLC-1040, M&K VX-860 Sub, Whatmough M30s, Squeezebox 3- Bottom

Have decided not to wait for the reviews and went ahead with the pre-order today for the new Duet (squeezebox and controller).
Will post my impressions after receiving it and getting everything set up. Am in the process now of converting all of my CD's to flac files.- Bottom

Won't be able to do any comparisons to the Sonos since I don't have one. But will give my comparison to my present CD player ( Panasonic DVD-RP91 ).
With the open architecture of the Slim Devices and the cost difference of the Sonos it seems well worth the price of admission.- Bottom

I am used to the screen on the controller with it's large easy to read letters and also serves as a clock while not in use. I have been using my Harmony 880 for the remote with with good success. I may sit tight on on my existing squeexebox, it has served me well.- Bottom

by BlindamoodIf you use any of the Logitech Squeezebox devices for streaming music, I just discovered that there is now a Controller app available directly from Logitech (info at the link below). I had read about a third-party app that was available previously, but I guess now it's 'official'. This may be old news...-

by treytexagJim, at the suggestion of a friend here in Houston, I bought a squeezebox about a month ago. I like it allot, although I have yet to rip all my cd's.
I'm curious, and sorry about the dumb question, but how does the ripping of the cd's clean up the sound? Do you have to use any certain...-

by phillipkI'm curious about the quality and type of DAC used in the rsx1056. I plan to run my squeezebox's digital out into either the 1056 or rsp-1068. (Squeezebox plays digital files streamed from my computer's hard drive in the other room... MP3s but also lossless FLAC files--it's pretty sweet and, supposedly,...-
