Don't know about a better picture!
At least 2 highly qualified technicians have told me that Sony pulls out all the stops on the new flagship model such as the S9000ES then reduces build quality and puts in cheaper parts. Have you Googled on DVD quality for the two units? I use my S9000ES only for CD and SACD and am upgrading it for that purpose only. You could check with Bill at Music Technology on a comparison of the two. 703 764 7005
