The Velo DD-18 is my favorite subwoofer. I really like the Maple finish. However, the DD-18 is great in any finish.

I run 2 15's, and demo'ed the 18's and be prepared for some serious shakin', and hope your room is big enough. Those baby's will rock. Just wait until you watch a film with a great soundtrack. You will completely enjoy that sub.I didn't have the room size or the extra denero for the 18's, but the 15's are more than I imagined. ENJOY !!!

I decided not to spend an extra $4,000, so I ended up buying two HSU VTF-3HOs + Turbos. They will just have to do until I can manage to get 2 Velo DD-18's in Maple.

Hallett, I think you will find the set up of the Velodyne DD series quite simple. Pretty much a plug and play set up, with a few tweaks. I didn't play around much with mine on the initial setup, but as time progressed I tweaked a little more. You will enjoy the process for sure. :T

I'm looking at purchasing a new sub and the Velo DD-15 and DD-18 have been mentioned to me. The room i have is 14 x 17 and I currently own a paradigm 2200 sub. I would appreciate any recommendations for what might work best and possible a price range if anyone has that information.

                    Thanks,
                    Shane

Penn State man, Hello, I'm presently using the DD-15 along with my M/L Vantage's in a 14'6" x 23' room and it is has exceeded my expectations. Given your room size the DD-15 is PLENTY !!

Good deals are always available on the "Gon", so check it out. I got mine as a week old, "returned because the purchaser decided to go with twin DD-12's instead" for $2500.

twitch, thanks for the information. You would have bought any of your equipment from world wide stereo by chance, have you? I generally have to make trips there from wilkes-barre as its the closest ht store with good gear.

I live close to the Pa / De border, thus my Dealers are Overture and Hi-Fi Hse. I bought my Plinius SA-102 from John Ratan @ Audio Connection in Verona, NJ. A very good guy to deal with I might add.

                            by nick.h
                            Hi,

I'm in the market for a subwoofer and looking at,

                            1. ASW850 $2,500 (S/hand)
                            2. Velodyne DD18 $4,500 (S/hand)
                            3. ASW855 $5,200 (New)

The ASW850 is the cheapest option, is there much difference between that and the ASW855? Any owners of both...

                            by ratchetfps
I'm driving towards the tail end of my mini statements project, and am hoping some experienced masters can help me get to the finish line.

Right now I am trying to decide what final steps I should take to get a really nice flat finish. Here's what I've already done:

I'm curious what lacquer based sanding sealer people are using these days to apply a black lacquer finish to MDF. I need to be able to source it in Canada as well. This info was taken from ShopBot forum from a very experienced MDF cabinet maker.
