    Amp issue

I'm having an odd problem with a car audio amp. I've got a 4/3/2 Alpine amp in my truck and for some reason the left channel doesn't want to always work. When I first start the vehicle, there is no sound out of the channel, to fix it, I turn the volume way up for a second and then back down - it then starts working and stays working for a while. If it quits again I just repeat the volume thing.

Any ideas on what might be going on? When I first got the amp, it had a similar issue and I found a broken ground on the input circuitry (RCA connections). I checked again and didn't see any issues.

    Thanks!

I was able to help it some today - filter switches seem to be a little dirty maybe. Switched the filter from "off" to "HP" and things cleared up. It's an old amp (circa '92) so I think I'll hit it with a few shots of Caig.

      HDCD & 1068 issue
      by Jaynaldo
I was listening to a Jim Brinkman CD which is recordered in HDCD. The 1068 started to in HDCD format then jumped to PCM 2CH. And the format would jump In between song selections causing the music to stutter. Any suggestions to remedy this issue?

      Sub amp humming issue
      by dyazdani
I recently sold my Bag End Infrasub 18 and the new owner is reporting a hum coming from the amp. It was not there in my system so I am trying to troubleshoot possible causes.

He says it is there "even without hooking it up to the preamp."

      I suggested trying...

      PreAmp Channel Balance Issue
      by HuskerInTX
I checked archives and found no items regarding my item. My issue has to do my preamp, RTC-950AX. After replacing the speaker cables, I had a noticeable volume imbalance. I tested using all sources, swapped speaker, amp to preamp cables and narrowed issue to the preamp.

      I turned the...

      Millett Hybrid Headphone Amp
      by dyazdani
I'm starting construction on a version of the Millett Hybrid amp for headphone use. It's a hybrid design, meaning (in this case) the tube stage is used for voltage gain while using a solid state output stage (based on a BB 634p).

It is a well covered project on other sites, but as most...
