    sacd playback on oppo 970 -981 dvd players

    does anyone know if i can use S/PDIF outs for SACD playback.... better yet could someone try it out for me because I cannot myself

    already got a reply from oppo in 20min on a sat!
    saddly no sacd divice outputs via s/pdif

      No SACD player will output DSD over SPDIF. First it would be technically impossible (too much data) and second, it would be against the rules.

        so SACD has more data than dvd-a with identical sample and bit rates?

          The digital output on DVD-A discs will be a Dolby Digital or DTS version of the album, not the high-res DVD-audio.

            oh, I did not know that

            that kind of sucks for us wanting a deq2496 on our sacd players

              Yeah, peter, for transmitting SACD or DVD-A digitally, you either have to use HDMI 1.2/1.3 or a proprietary link like Denon's Denonlink.
