I think what everybody is losing sight of is not about power.
Its not about theoretical calculations in physics.
In a pure term you want to reproduce the original sound.
What happens between the original recorded music and when it hits our ears in our listening rooms is not always the same.
Its mostly about limiting "loss"
Loss can mean "influences that change the sound along the way"
In the perfect world, there would be no loss and exact duplication.
Are there differences in Amps, you bet, Why ? Different construction creates different influences
