    Helping the Oldman...again

So, some of you may remember this thread:

Where my Dad got back into the audio game after I got my kit together. He wanted McIntosh and pulled the trigger on a MA6900.

Well, this weekend I had to go back to the dealer to see if they could do anything with the dead left-channel of my Rotel RB1080. Dad went with me and right before we left a pair of old McIntosh MC250 SS amps, from the late 60s, caught his attention. Next thing I know (with a little prodding from me) he purchased both the amps and an old McIntosh preamp as a secondary system.

The owner of the store was unloading the vintage McInosh stuff from his personal collection, so it was in mint condition. Side note - the owner has an entire McIntosh home theater with about 6,000 watts of power. Yikes.

I'm pretty excited for the oldman. I think he'll enjoy it as a second system. He plans to run the MC250s as monoblocks, but he still needs to purchase a set of speakers. I think he might make it a vinyl only system.

Anyone else had experience with these amps? Any suggestions on a nice, affordable set of bookshelf speakers to pair w/ the amps?
    Christopher

    McIntosh Amps and PreAmps
    by NMyTree
    Hi guys.

I'm curious about some of McIntosh's Amps and PreAmps. But I know nothing about them. I remember some time ago reading something about how they had a time period there, where they're amps amd Pre Amps where not very good, not up to McIntosh's previous standards.

    Pre-Pro For McIntosh Amps
    by Stockinv
I have an Aragon Stage 1 Pre-Pro and McIntosh 501 amps. I'm wondering if I could improve my system by going to a McIntosh Pre-Pro, such as the
MX-135. Can anyone offer a suggestion? Thanks.

    800D with Mcintosh 501's
    by Stockinv
I currently have 802D speakers. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 800D's.
Would my Mcintosh 501 amps be sufficient for the upgraded speakers?
My room is about 19 feet square and open at the rear, with 10 foot ceilings.

I bought all my gear about a year ago and my Dad has had a chance to listen to it 3x now. Now he's talking about getting back into the hifi game (after being out for 25+ years). He has a huge record collection (growing CD collection) and he really used to be into music and hifi, but he got away from...
