    SPL meter range

The only SPL meter I can source so far in South Africa has a range of 30hz - 10 khz. Is this OK.
Are the so called Radioshack models "full range" 20-20.

    Thanks

The 'range' means the frequencies where they're most accurate.

The RS meter isn't accurate at lower frequencies either. There are correction tables for the RS meter, but they're not really very useful given the unit to unit variability.

For accurate measurements a much better choice is something like the Behringer ECM8000 mic with associated gear and software.

Another choice that I personally dig is the Phonic PAA-3. Also has RTA, RT60, and has software that can be loaded on your PC for gauging the entire room.

        My BFD subwoofer EQ thread
        by Chris D
Well, I'm FINALLY getting around to using my BFD to calibrate my two SVS PC-Ultra subwoofers. As expected, I'm running into a few hitches along the way as I'm learning and going through the process. Hopefully there are guys here that can help.

It took me a while, but I did go around and...

        Hi everyone,

I'd like to have your opinions on some measurement product, an SPL meter and LCR meter to be specific.

SPL Meter : I know alot of people around here have the RatShack SPL meter but unfortunately for me I'm a Canadian and RadioShack only sell his stuff to US...

        SPL (Sound Pressure Level)

SPL stands for sound pressure level, and it is a measure of the sound intensity or loudness at a specific location relative to a reference level. It is commonly used to quantify and describe the loudness of sound in various audio applications, including loudspeaker design, room acoustics, and sound engineering. Sound pressure level is expressed in decibels (dB) and is calculated using the following formula:

        SPL (in dB) = 20 * log10(P / Pref)

        Spl Meter
        by NateTTU
        Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase a spl meter and thought I would ask you guys which one is pretty decent. I don't want to spend too much, I would prefer around $40 or less if possible. It would be nice if I could get a unit that would be able to hook up to a laptop and plot out a frequency...

        Another interesting Melodavid speaker
        by Reet
Given my positive experience with Melodavid tweeters, I thought I'd roll the dice on an interesting looking midrange / midwoofer. This little thing is the MCF4Nd.

Build quality is a 10/10, as good as any other high end driver I've handled. It measures 115mm to the frame...
