New-Used CD player made a HUGE difference....

Well, after using a crappy old Panasonic CD player with my amp and 802s...
I knew the cd player was hiding alot.. Ive been holding out to get a nice cd player from the new Magnolia HT at work, and still am...

but tonight i picked up an old Denon DCD-1530 CD player and a Denon LA-2150K Laser Disc player for free.
Old.. yes... free.. even better! :T

Wow! I dont have to crank the vol on my sunfire TGII anymore, probably help prevent some clipping too, my stereo system is refined once again.. and here I am after midnight blasting my stereo listening to Pink Floyd "Is There Anybody Out There" The Wall Live.

    Good music rocks,
    Free music is better! ;x(

I have an old Denon DCD-1520. Talk about Fort Knox build quality. They don't build em like this anymore. Mine is an '88 but still works great - what a work of art. And the thing weighs 246,000 pounds.

I do prefer my RCD-1072. However in it's day, the DCD-1520 was close to top of the line and still sounds pretty decent.

Why I dont know what your talking about... :W

Now if I could just get someone to finish my livingroom for me for free, then Id really feel lucky... but im not holding my breath... ops:

Now im curious to what a "real" cd player would sound like.. dunno, this thing is pretty ancient, but not as old as that panasonic i was using.

I think it must be my monster cable...... errr... my not mentioned here RCA cables that make it sound so good..

New CD player, Amp, and some silver cable interconnects...and you're set!

Congrats on the nice score... that's really cool.

I need to start hanging out where you do so I can get stuff for cheap/free.

Im happy with it, it sounds great!
Ill probably be content with it untill i get new amps.

Anyone have an idea on a year? I didnt see anything on it, and tried to do a google search for info/year/price the night I brought it home, and didnt find much luck.

Id have to guess early 90s?

And TA.... yes you should.. my amp purchase got put on hold because of another race car I just bought... once I have it home, ill post details in the speed section... getting a GREAT price on this car.... although not everybodys taste, its deff cool IMO...

                  Damn hobbies!

Well, I walked out the door with my DCD-1520 which was a demo unit at a significant discount for $600 (I still have the receipt). Back then, in a model year they usually featured 8-10 CD players in their catalog. Your 1530 was 2nd from top of the line. Build was excellent as you can tell and much effort was put into vibration dampening as you can tell by the heavy chassis. Your 1530 listed in the $800 range.

Of course, technology has improved. But that fact that your player was top shelf back than explains why it still sounds relatively good today. The new stuff does sound better - at least the quality units. But at the price you paid, I'd say you lucked out. Good find.

A few days ago, I was checking out some pawn shops and Goodwills. While at one of the pawn shops, I noticed this cd player. It was actually underneath a dvd player. The Denon was covered in dust so, I know it had been there a little while. I could read the faceplate which has the model # but, it meant...

                            Good progresive DVD player
                            by Holland
Iam looking for a good progresive dvd player around $200.
I have a panny 42inch EDTV with HDMI input.
Right now Iam thinking about the oppo player but I heard it has long disc loading times, something I really hate. I heard great things about it upconversion but I dont know how it preforms...

Over the last 5 years I have, for various reasons, come into the possession of 4 different cd players (details below). Now I wouldn’t be a budding audiophile if the idea didn’t occur to me, eventually, to find out which one of them was the best. I googled each of them to get the technical specs,...

So the last 2 days I have been listening intensively to the RSP 1098 and my “old” Denon AVC A1SE+ which is more known as AVR 5800+ (with upgrade) in the US.
This comparison does only represent personal view of both units side by side. However I thought it might be interesting to let you guys...
