    Room treatment for inproved sound

In this vast forum of expert audiophiles i am seeking advice on a stratagy for acoustic treatments for my listening room.
My equipment is in place now and i'm looking to get the most out of my investment :P
The room in question is 13x18 with a valted ceiling all notty pine(not the best acoustics in the world but looks good).
The mains are against the 18'wall 10' apart.
One 13'wall has an opening the the dining area.
The other 13'wall has a set of french doors going out the deck.
As you see its limited as to how i can place speakers and such
Any advise would be greatly appreciated ;x(
Any websites for acoustic treatments would help too.
Thanxs for the time to address this thread.
    Cheers
    DJS

Here's a link to a thread with "general" acoustic treatment solutions:

For more specific info on your particular room and specifically placement options, try posting a diagram of your room/furniture/gear with marked windows/doors and room measurements :T

First, the wood walls are not bad acoustically. Unless the walls are hollow. Assuming that your walls have drywall under the knotty pine, the wood is helping to stiffen your walls, which is a good thing.
Before dealing with any acoustic treatments there is a possibility that you may have more need to work a little with your speaker and seating placement.
It is hard to get into specifics until you give us a little more info on both your room and your equipment.
In order to help you could you let us know if:
1- is this a ht or music only.
2- if it is a ht are you using a tv or projector and screen
3- what brand speakers are you using
4- what furniture is in the room
5- are there any moveable bookshelves in the room

        Thanxs for the reply
This is what i'm dealing with.
        Def tech bp30
        Def tech bpvx
        Def tech reference subs (x2)
        Rotel RSP1098
        Anthem Statement P5
        Denon 3800 dvd player
        Audio control rialto theater Eq.
Also there is no sheet rock behind the notty pine.
The system is set up for HT but i use it more for multi channel audio more often.
I have a large sofa directly opposite the mains on 18' wall.
One moveable book shelf near the french doors in that corner of the room.
Its a lively room that needs to be tamed and because it has a valted ceiling i am assuming it has some odd reflections going on that may be cenceling out some of the bass.
Any help would be appreciated :T

Hi, I've recently stumbled on RealTraps.com and noticed their products and frankly, suprised to find out how affordable these things are. I finally got my speakers and while I'm still shopping for a used amp (anybody who spots a marantz 5400, denon 2803 / 1804 or Yamaha RX-V1400 at ~ Cdn$500-700 I appreciate if you can let me know!) I have a dilemma with the placement of speakers in my room.

          Since I don't have a picture...

          Speaker / Room acoustic measurements
          by MaxwellM
I have been working on re-doing my living room into a semi home theater room over the past month or so. New lights, fixing the older Sheetrock issues, and paint. I have also changed the entire layout of my room. I have never taken a measurement of any of the responsiveness of my speakers and I think...
