    Asked and Answered ?

I thought i had seen something on this but i can't seem to find anything on it.
    So I'll ask anyway.

If one is using the P.E. ready made cabinets, And a Jasper Circle jig how does one NOT ruin the finish on the baffle ? Should you lay out everything on the unfinished side and cut out ? Would like to get some input on this.
    Thank You.

That's from the first generation of Workmates ever build (big and heavy). I doubt you'll find one like it..

I did some checking and i did find a newer model " Workmate 425 " I will check out our local Home Depot and Menards...Also would like to ask, i have read somewhere (link unknown) that Home depot sells a foot fatigue mat called Soft Foot and someone wrote that this could be used in place of acoustic foam to line enclosure walls ? its a grey foam material according to the picture i seen. If i can find a way to send it from my work email account to my home email i will post a picture of it thursday. (work frowns on sending out emails not work related)

Fatigue mats are made with closed cell foam that's of no use in this application.

Another option is to use contact paper to protect the baffles and cabinets while working on them. I believe I picked up that tidbit off of Zaphs site.

Thats what I did and it worked out great.

Here's a rule of thumb. If you can't blow through it, you can't use it inside a speaker. I'd suggest at least 1 1/2" - 2" thick foam inside of the cabinet behind and on each wall behind the woofer, holding back from the front baffle about 2" so the driver can breath.

Check out Hobby Lobby or other local craft stores. PE also carries it of course.

I bought 1" thick foam to line the mid transmission line on the Mini's at Hobby Lobby. I wandered around until I finally found it in the pillow department, I think. They had several thicknesses to choose from and it wasn't very expensive. I'd also check Walmart in the mattress pad area. Any foam you can blow through will work. It would probably be cheaper at Walmart too.

It comes in all colors so you can't go by that.

Thank You Jim, I will check out Wal-Mart first it is also on the way. I am going to Riverside Casino to purchase tickets to see the Gin Blossoms there a week from Friday.

I have looked at the mattress pads as told to before but wasn't sure if it would work i didn't see any that looked like the egg crate style they looked like they had circles
                          and waves(?)

I also orfered some parts for the Modula TM just before i read your last post. I went with the Dayton RS-28 tweeter. I got the RS-180-8 this is the correct woofer isn't it? all the BOM's had it the 8 ohm model listed. The RS-180-4's are on sale too bad?

Yes, the RS180-8 is the correct woofer. You'll really enjoy the Modula M/T's. They're an excellent speaker.

If you are trying to save a few bucks, some people also use carpet padding to line the walls with. You may or may not have access to that. But if you do, you could give it a try.

I tried the carpet pad that we had from our new carpet install and i didn't think it sounded good compared to poly batting ? But thank you for the input.

I was fortunate enough to get the tweeters before they were hard to get. In fact I like these speakers so much I have 5 extra tweeters for 2 more stereo sets.
