    speaker placement

I have build the denham speakers and have a few questions about placement.
I do realize this is not the best setup but trying to the best with what I have.
    The room is 14x12.
I know speakers are too close to back wall, But since I am using a subwoofer and cutting the frequency to the mains at 80hz with a crossover does it still make much of a difference on back wall placement?
If I push them almost all the way back to not be too close to them I am wondering if the pc monitor will hinder the sound as it will probably bounce from back of screen. Or is it better to make stands which will be slightly higher than the monitor and tilt them down towards ears?

These graphs hopefully will explain it:

I'm making my way through Floyd Toole's book, "Sound Reproduction". So far, it has me some what shaking my head in disagreement, but that is another thread (and whom am I to argue with Floyd Toole?). One thing I just came across that I thought would be very helpful, because it comes up all the time here, if

Are these ported or sealed? Your ears are probably your best judge, but you can also measure. Even if you don't have a calibrated microphone, measurements can still show the difference between positions.

System calibration / Speaker placement question
        by number17
Hey guys, I got a quick question on audio system calibration / speaker placement.

I connected the new 5.1 JM Labs Chrous speakers to my system which includes LG 7832 (Zenith 318) DVD player, Toshiba 57HX83 TV and Marantz 5300 receiver.

It's been ~ 2-3 weeks and the speakers...

        7.1 rear back placement question
        by wandarian
I am considering setting up 7.1 system in L shape multi purpose room.
Everything is OK except rear back surround speakers.

My wife doesn't allow me to use stand because of a vigorous kid.
        Only option is wall mounting.

        It's roughly 14 wide x 35 long and HT...

        Speaker-Equipment Placement

        Hello to All:

Well, my new major upgrade(s) are in place. As you can see from the enclosed picture, things are very tight on my main wall. SimonS, along with others have suggested that I make some modifications in order to get the 803's out of the corners of my listening room. I could...

        Monitor Statements Positioning Newb Question
        by Okydoky
I am in the process of the preliminary planning for a home theatre room.
And the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to place the Centre, Left and Right speakers behind an Acoustically Transparent Screen.

I am looking at Building 3 Monitor Statements for those 3 speakers,...

Speaker placement with a 120" screen
        by zacjones
We're setting up the old theater in a new house, and are running into some speaker placement issues.

If your screen is too big, forcing you to place your mains wider than optimal for your viewing distance, is placing all three L/C/R speakers below the screen an option?
