    Karaoke 2.1 Build

Note: see post #6 for details on this build - due to difficulties in editing this post.

Almost back home from visiting friends and family in the Philippines. Flight delayed so just sitting here in the Dallas airport.

I built this 2.1 Karaoke with my fiancés son. It was a time limited 5 day build , for Karaoke on New Years.

My subjective impression is that it sounds really nice with very good bass and it can play very loud! We really enjoyed it for Karaoke on New Years Eve. I’ll put more details in the comments.

Having problems with an image link I added ... won't let me delete link. I'll fix this tomorrow.

Five days is pretty impressive! It's best to just upload the images to the HTGuide server. You can typically just drag and drop images into the editor provided they are a common format (jpeg, png, etc).

Exactly, upload the images to the forum. That way we don't end up losing them as time goes by and links break.

You can also click on the image icon and paste the URL in to add an image.

Thanks! I did try it but it kept telling me I wasn’t logged in, even though I was. I tried to delete the link as well … I’d click on delete link and then save, but it would say invalid link, and wouldn’t save. I’m likely doing something wrong. I’ll try again to upload my images.

Having no success in editing my previous posts ... get another error about saving or cancelling unsaved edits? So, I'll put all the photos here. Before my travel, I purchased all the parts online on Lazada, like Amazon for the Philippines and was limited to what they had available. However, it turned out really well. I used cotton for box damping which does a decent job ... he mesh is there to keep it all together, though it was glued to the side walls as well. Used 3 inches on the back of the enclosure. I used an Aiyima full range driver, in open baffle configuration. I can't find a retail outlet in the states for that one. I really like it though, as well as the Pioneer TS-300D4 which has a low FS of 27Hz, a high Qts (0.59 It think) and a sensitivity of 96dB. Plays quite low in the sealed 1.8 C.F. box.The 2.1 amplifier is one you can find on Ebay. It really does a good job with these high sensitivity drivers. I wired the subwoofer voice coils in series for 8 ohms and then connected both to the subwoofer amp connection. So, the amp saw an 4 ohm load. The amp had controls for the crossover frequency, treble, bass and subwoofer level, which was adequate for this project.

A mixer and mics were used for the Karaoke.

This was just a fun project I wanted to do with my fiance's son, for New Years Karaoke ... we all had great time with it on New Years Eve! It sounded quite nice and had really good bass and played very loud! I'm leaving the vinyl finish and final measurements for my fiance's son ... he's learning and did a great job helping me. I took some quick measurements with my iPhone 14 showed a peak in the 6 to 8 KHz range which was audible. Adjusting the treble helped with that, though it needs a notch filter for it eventually. We'll get better measurements and fix what's needed.

Hmm, interesting errors. Pinging theSven? Maybe the man himself can figure it out.

Those are nice looking little drivers, certain aspects look familiar, though I can't place them.

here’s more information on the full range driver, see attached pics. It’s a Chinese company … they also make class D amps available on Amazon.
