There are still certain issues with an IB, especially with the wife. I'm not sure we are ready to cutout large holes in our new home.

I found a local guy selling the same 24'' sealed Mal-X/EP2500 combo for a good deal and I'm really considering this option. If it doesn't work I can always sell it and try IB, but I'm hoping it will. Since it already comes with a box would be a very fast way to find out.

Before picking it up I'm still curious about the issue with optimum Statement room placement. I'm worried having a 24'' cube right next to the speaker will cause issues with either the front baffle or open backed mids. Could anyone please comment on this?

Since the price wasn't too bad and I really don't want to make any large holes in my ceiling and walls I went ahead and purchased the second sealed Mal-X. I've already ran a few tests and it seems that my poor bass issues were really caused by a bad driver. I need to run a free-air test to get a final verdict, but at least now I know.

I will probably still keep both as having 2 sealed subs in opposite corners could help with room issues. Also, it does look pretty sweet sitting by the statemetns.

            Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could share a few pointers.

I've placed my mini statements up for sale in the pawn shop area of this forum and also on a couple of other places around the web. Now I'm certainly not wanting to get in the business of selling speakers, but I'm wanting to try some new designs and unfortunately I have too much at home right now so I need to make some room. Also any money raised would be placed towards the new project.

I'm hoping to get as much back as possible as I put into the project. (not including any sort of labor costs) I can't exactly give them away as it was quite an investement and I imagine my wife wouldn't be so happy if I just gave them away. Of course not selling these I would also forgo the oppurtunity to try out some more designs. I really enjoyed the DIY aspect but I can't exactly just keep building and creating a stock pile of speakers at my house.

I haven't had much luck as of yet and I'm debating on scrapping the whole selling idea, but before I just give up does anyone have any pointers?

            Thanks,
            Nate

              Sell to family and friends.

              Sell just the drivers.

Unfortunately my friends and family are not into speakers very much and wouldn't have a place to put them. I may go with your second option of just selling the drivers but it seems just a shame to throw away perfectly good enclosures.

                Thanks,
                Nate

Nate, which designs are you considering to build to replace your minis?

On a completely off-topic side note... bummer about Leach...

                    Hey Chuck,

Thanks for the condolences, I just read that story about an hour ago on Yahoo. Just won't be the same without that guy around. Saturday's game just might be pretty interesting considering Michigan St. lost 8 starters and we now lost Leach.

Back a few months ago we had a rather large get together up here and there were maybe 30 different speakers there. Lot of interesting ones and it got my interest peaked into trying different things. My room really isn't big enough for these speakers so I was considering going with a smaller design. I built the speakers before I bought a house. (not the best idea) Currently I'm thinking of using the Usher 8945P, Peerless HDS, and Dayton ND16. (I know it uses a couple of drivers in another persons design but believe me it will be completely different so please don't delete this)

A know a guy who did something very similiar with a Seas 27TDFC and it is very cool. Using the small and cheap ND16 allows the off axis response to be very good and keeps the frequencies from beaming until above somewhere around 17khz. I think something like this might be more for me considering my theater/listening room is much smaller than I originally planned for. Having a much smaller speaker would help out in speaker placement for my room as well.

I'm going to have to sell my Statements/Center as well, but figured I would start with the minis. In all the Statements are amazing and would be sad to see them go, but they are just overkill for my room and having these big speakers in such a smaller room really isn't beneficial at all. They sounded so much better in the living room before the wife moved in.

                    Nate

So I was reading over the thread and was studying the crossover and wanted to get a BOM for the center. A lot of questions arose, that I think can be answered by just listing the parts. I was wondering if I am overdoing some parts,

One big question I had was that some of the inductors...
