Cool HT Pic and Surround Question.

I found this pic of this really cool HT, It comes real close to the plans my wife and I have been working together on for our own HT. One question though, we will have our seating along the back just as this HT does, what is the best placment options for the surrounds in a 5.1 system in this scenerio.

    Thanks,
    Robert P.

If you are only doing 5.1 and are going to have multiple rows, I'd put the surrounds in the back. That way all seating would get more of the surround effect.
But I'd go ahead and wire for 7.1, so you could add sides later.

      Rear speaker placment question
      by Dustin Howell
      Hi,

I'm trying to figure out the best place for my rear surround speakers. I can mount them on the side walls or rear wall.

The rear wall is open to the kitchen but there are 2ft walls on each side that "Break up" the living area from the kitchen.

Looking for "wide dispersion" surround speakers
      by netarc
Due to my room layout & seating position, I can't accomodate side-wall mounted dipolar speakers; so for the past few years I've been using direct radiator tower speakers as the LS/RS. Since the seating position is so close to the surrounds, though, this has proved less than ideal.

      DIY Surround Speakers in Columns?
      by DMGambone
I'm looking at placing speakers inside a wooden column that will house a 3" support pole for my theater. I want to do this to hide the speaker from view, but also want to provide a rich sound in the room. I've attached an overhead of the room layout (a 17' x 12' x 7' 4" main area with an...

      Surround speaker project

      Objective:
To design speakers for use in the surround channels that produce a very wide, even, diffuse sound field, for as little money as possible to achieve the desired results. This project is far more about the design process for me than the end result. That is why the budget is low. But...

      Surround Speaker project
      by servicetech
I'm planning on building some surround speakers that will be mounted where the wall and ceiling meet. The wall is 10' high, the room is 20' wide. Primary seating area is in the middle, against the back wall.

1: I want to make the enclosures angled at the front so the sound won't be shooting...
