    Zone 2 tutorial

I know nothing about operating the second zone of my system remotely. Is there a FAQ that will tell me everything (down to the wire) I need to set up my second zone? :?:

Each manufacturer implments the zone two features a little bit differently. As examples, some might require use of optional "repeater" units to execute zone two commands and not allow use of recording facilities when using zone two. Others might have all the control functions built in and have separate recording and zone two control capabilities, so the setup would be different in those cases.

So the place to start would be to identify what equipment you plan to be using for zone two operation, so that anyone here with knowledge and/or experenice about that brand & specific model can weigh in. (I know you're listed your equipment in your member profile, but we hate to "assume" in a discussion, since a lot of folks around here seem to upgrade as soon as dust begins to collect on their equipment.) :>) You might also want to check to see what the manufacturer has to say on their site (or in the owner's manual) about zone two operation.

Take a look round the Xantech site and try their demo's etc.

Basically you have two options to go as far as repeating your IR commands to a different room. One is to go hardwired using something like Cat5 cables or option B is to go wireless and use something that will convert your IR commands into RF and back again. The wireless options are far easier to install but hardwired tend to be more robust.

        Little Zone 2 Gotchas

I've been playing with Zone 2 functions on my C1, and have found a few things out via trial and error-

        1. For video, you have one option: composite video. Clever specifications readers may have picked this out of the specs list, but I missed it. There are no S-Video or Component outputs...

        Questions Regarding Zone 2 Operation
        by dschamis
I am tempted to start messing with the Zone 2 opertaions, but I have a few questions:

        1. Are there specific Zone 2 remote codes, or do you have to use Onkyo's multi-room system to have an input for the RDC-7's Zone 2 remote input? In other words, are there direct commands, or must you...

Ok, i'm about at wits end here.
To simpify what im doing, I'll only refer to three components.
        1) The zone 2, which is just a CRT tv with composite video and simple two channel stereo... basicly, its just a tv. I'm not using Coax to feed it any signal, just the composite video and sterio...

        RSX-1055 and zone 2 question
        by srinathalapati
        Folks,

I own a RSX-1055 and I am planning to buy an amplifier (Audio Source AMP100) to power outdoor speakers. I was reading the RSX-1055 manual about zone 2 operation and it confused me a bit. I am looking for some clarification from the experts here. On page 25 in the manual it says:...

RSX-1560: Using CB Amps for Zone 2
        by njarwala
        Hello,

I have a Rotel RSX 1560. My setup is 5.1 and I do not have Center Back speakers. I want to configure the receiver so that I can use the two Center Back amps to power speakers in my backyard - as Zone 2. I can't seem to get it to work.

Here is what I have already...
