    Xbox will do Progressive Scan

    Newsbyte from IGN:

NVidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang last night revealed in a press conference (ostensibly to promote the GeForce 3 graphics chip) that the Xbox DVD drivers would include support for both Progressive Scan and HDTV output, high-end features currently missing from rival PlayStation2's feature list. Officials from Microsoft were unavailable for comment, but this does further clarify Microsoft's stance on DVD playback. Microsoft recently revealed that Xbox would ship without DVD playback as standard, and that the DVD feature would be enabled with the purchase of a low-cost driver/remote control package.
    Very cool.

"NEW" Toshiba 3780 Progressive Scan Dvd Player
            by John Holmes
I've had this player for almost two weeks now. My wife surprised me with it as part of our anniversary celebration. Sorry, I cannot post a picture as Toshiba doesn't even list it on their site. Also, I can't begin to tell you how it performs in progressive mode because, I do not own an HDTV as of yet....

1068: Problem switching between progressive inputs
            by McLovin
            G'day,

I am having an issue with my RSP-1068 and progressive scan inputs.

I have three video input devices hooked up to the 1068: a set-top box, a DVD player, and an Xbox (on V1, V2, and V3 inputs respectively). The 1068 is then connected to my TV (a Sony LCD). All inputs...

VPH-D50Q - Help with Progressive Scan
            by alyn62
I have a VPH-550Q that was donated to me. The projector is hooked thru my Sony receiver into my XBOX. Until recently I've been using s-video and the picture is actually quite good. A few days ago I decided to hook up to the projector with component cables. Here is where the problem starts.

            Progressive Scan DVD Player
            by junior77blue
So, if my hitachi TV upcoverts all my signals into 1080i, what's the purpose of having a progressive scan DVD player?

Wouldn't it make more sense to 'feed' the TV with a raw signal as opposed to feeding it the progressive scan signal, and then having the TV upsample that once again....

RSP 1098 and progressive scan dvd/dvd audio players
            by Henk
The RSP 1098 TFT screen displays no video unless a usable signal is passed through the composite video connection. However, as pointed out in the RSP 1098 manual not all dvd players, set in progressive mode, output a usable composite video signal. This is true also for dvd players that play dvd audio....
