Xbox360 Died, now what to do!?

Doesn't it figure, I've been having a few random freezes while playing Gears of War. It wasn't anything big, but slightly annoying. Well this week I've had time off and what happens, the damn thing dies on me. :x Figures that I have some time to actually really sit down and play the thing, but now it's dead (just tried this morning and now getting the 3 red lights for general hardware failure).

Well at least the good thing is, is that with the warranty being extended (this is for all 360 consoles for a full year), it's paid IN FULL to be repaired, I'm just waiting for the box to package it up and send it back to them (pre-paid).

So now I can't play my games, I'm trying to figure out what to do, I do have Final Fantasy XII for the PS2 and it's holding me over...but it's still not gaming in HD.

I think I need some suggestions on what to do while I'm without my xbox360 for a good week or two.

Hmm I do get freezes on Gears of War couple times........ hope it doesn't die on me(I don't have mine extended warranty only 90days).

Final Fantasy XII isn't in HD but it rocks in terms of system. I have 360, Wii and PS2 now and I still turned it on yesterday for couple hours. Gears of war was left behind even I just bought it two days ago.

After playing games for years I would agree with Nintendo that playing a game is about pursuit of how good the game is but not the graphic. You get thrilled by the graphic at first minute but couple hours later you treat it no other than a gameboy game.

The only thing that gets me is the timing of it. I had 6 days off from work (with the extended weekend) and I can't play my games!

...and yes this IS my type of luck! ha ha

I think he's talking about the MFG warranty. It was extended from 90 days to a full year by Microsoft if I recall.

I thought Microsoft is only doing 90days, which extra year is provided by whatever retailers offer?
When I bought it in Toyrus they did offer me but it's only limited to them but not the Microsoft

Recently Microsoft extended the warranty on them from 90 days to 1 year. This is what I heard anyways.

Really?? I just bought my 360 2weeks ago and they did not offer any news
Other areas in Asia like Japan and Taiwan offer 1year warranty though

Here you go http://news.digitaltrends.com/article11967.html on all new and previously purchased Xbox 360's. It just went into effect Dec 23rd which was just about 2 weeks ago so that would explain .

Woot thanks for the news Doug! I bought mine at 18th so I did not know and the staffs in Toyrus warned me for getting their warranty because of 90days. Cool that I did not pay that $50 because I did not plan on keeping the console after finishing the DOAX2 on 360. :T

Dan, it probably wouldn't cost to much to rent a system at a local game store for the week, unless they are all checked out with the holidays...

I think I've put my email address wrong before(I changed it couple days ago, but only receiving alert for my Live Mmebership is about to be gone).
Do you have to register for it?? Or it just turn into 1 year warranty automatically?

Ha ha, no, I think I can live without the 360 for a little bit. I'm still waiting on MS to send me the box to get it repaired, but I'm thinking I might just take it back to BestBuy, I got the warranty, might as well use it! If the box isn't here today, I'm going to start the process of them handing me a new xbox 360! hee hee.

Dan, I am not sure the warranty is necessarily a replacement warranty. I believe they have to see if it can be fixed first, which in this case probably means they will do what you are going to do, send it to Ms.

When I had an HD Directv receiver, it had to be sent in to their repair center first, then they notified me that it could not be repaired. Then they tried to stiff me offering me a 200.00 replacement unit for a high end Samsung piece I paid 600 bucks for! I said NO FREAKIN WAY. Long story short, I had to pay more for the HD TiVo unit, but I at least got my 600.00 credit.

Pewter TA - if you do have it swapped at Best buy, be sure to get a receipt from them showing the exchange with both serial numbers on it.

there is a well known problem when people have their 360s replaced - everything you downloaded is locked to 2 things: your Xbox live account and your console - you can use the content with either - once you swap out the console - that option goes away - and you can only play/use that content while logged into Xbox live. if you call MS and complain they have some half baked work around, but I've heard of people having trouble if they had their consoles replaced at a store, and did not get documentation.

Well I didn't take it back to BB. I vowed that if I didn't have a box from MS yesterday I would seek that route. Well when I got home, there the box was, so I wrapped it up and shipped it off. It's in TN right now (probably trying to find some CAT Cables I would guess) on it's way to TX to be fixed.

At least the one good thing is that from the reports, I'll get a new board put in that has updated "components" on it that doesn't cause this same exact problem...

So in a week or two, HOPEFULLY, I should have it back. I marked the unit just to make sure I got the same one back.

The shipment usually takes 7-9 business days to have it back to your house(according to the experiences of people in Xbox official forum).

Just thought I'd let people know that they sent me a NEW xbox360, only took 8 days.

On top of it being new (well probably a refurb in brandnew plastic), they are switching the serial number of my old one to this new one and also gave me another year warranty on it. So I effectively got 2 1/2 years worth of warrany from MS on my Xbox360. Not too bad.

Now I just need to find a new game to play...and finish up all my other ones! :T

MS is about time to catch up some service in the states compare to the other regions. Only here got 90 days of warranty upon buying the console. You get 1 year warranty upon buying it and instant check/replace console in some countries.
I was quite disappointed while they did nothing for covering the brick update a while back and I guess they are making up for it.

This is a Canadian made World War One film starring Paul Gross, a well known and respected Canadian actor who also wrote and directed Passchendaele. Gross was intrigued by a story told to him by his grandfather, Michael Dunne, about how he bayoneted a young German to death and how it haunted him until...

                                                Hi,
I'm pretty happy with axiom speakers i have now. However, i eventually move up to the dedicated 2-channel stereo (my gears: denon avr-3805, rotel rb-1080, rcd-1072). Therefore, i start looking at good musical speakers . I see that most of rotel owners here own B&W. I was just wondering...

Like many, I feel that the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" dvd is one of the best out there. I originally bought the PCM version due to lack of a DTS decoder. I recently bought a Rotel RSX 1055. When I load the PCM version, the menu gives a choice between DTS and PCM, when I select DTS the 1055...

If you like the movie and don’t already have a copy of this movie on DVD, then this two disc edition is a “must buy”. It not only has the “Extended Cut” but also the original theatrical release with improved video and audio over the previous release.
