I was in Berlin last week for the European CE fair - IFA - and saw this set on display. At 71" it was the biggest set on display. LG came out with a 70" piece which i thought had a better picture. Doesn't all this make you wonder if there's enough space in the home for them ? (Our houses tend to be on the small side in Asia ...)
The interesting thing was in how far LCDs and DLP rear projectors had come. The image generated by these 2 media was - to my eyes - as good as anything plasma could throw at 'em. would go as far as to say that I'd bet my $0.02 worth that plasma would decline in importance and LCDs/DLPs would really take off in less than a year. Maintainence and repair costs in particular would be attractive as all too often the only way to repair plasmas is to change the whole panel - bummer.
Also saw the new Denon DVD-A/SACD machines
, a 3D plasma display by Sanyo, home networks by Thomson and Samsung. Every manufacturer had LCD displays and recordable DVDs were all the rage.

Plasma will always have a place in the market. Some people don't want projectors and the fuss that comes with them. They want a clean simple set that doesn't take up much space. Plasma is it.
