    Amazing really

Talk about an area catching on fire. Front projection is becoming all we could hope it would be. It's almost as great as the viewing experience of all the people realizing that to really have home theater, you need to be able to immerse yourself into the film, and not just in the audio.

I'm very happy with the front Projection section now as well as my own projector! :-)

    Yeah Lex,

The prices are dropping to below RPTV levels, and the quality is going way up on affordable front projectors.
Plus they are getting so small, quiet, and convenient that (along with the good prices) they are really catching on.

Also there are some interesting new technologies looming over the next couple years that will likely advance the breed, and drop the prices of high end units to consumer prices as well.

    -Dean.

      Certainly!,
With Projection systems at such low prices, everybody can get into it without the worry of how the technology is changing.
I am sure glad that I didn't put down $18,000 for a DLP projector last year only to see new technologies improve over the previous.
To spend a couple of G's , I would not be concerned at this point.

Anyways!,,Front Projection will make the perfect gift for the family for this years Christmas.

It is kinda wierd, but it seems like Projection has been a kinda secret club that has now been exposed to the world, and member ship is open too all. It is catching on amazingly fast. I good friend from work just got his Sony HS2 (or is it HL2) not sure, and we are getting a FP in the next month, and I have almost convinced a friend of mine to get one as well. He is convinced, he just has to pass it by the wife, they are set to come by as soon as we get ours.

I wish I had looked into FP sooner as I would already have one.

It's true, However I have been able to sneak things into the house in the past without Tracey knowing about it.
A FPTV would be a pretty difficult one to get by without notice. 8O

Man you guys gotta get with the program!!
Men buy electronics, tools, cars and stuff.
Women buy groceries, clothes, purses and shoes and stuff.

My wife is awesome. She was aware of my hobbies and interests before we were married and has never tried once to disuede me from them(well maybe the porn thing).
She was unsure of the front projo idea until it was up and running. But now she enjoys it even more than me.

Sorry for ranting guys. But working in sales and I hear guys use their wives as a out all the time.It kind of makes me wanna puke! :?

                    Claude D D,

So glad I will never have the WAF issue. Hell she loves comics, muscle cars, action movies, videogames (watching, not playing, but I take what I can get) And as you may have seen in another post here, she even pushes me to buy HT equipment.

As far as FP goes, if I don't get an FP soon I will be in the dog house.

Each year I set a $2000 limit on HT gear. As long as I don't cross that limit I don't have a WAF problems(so far). Actually we seem to play a game neither of us ever speaks of. I try to see how much gear I can get in the house without her noticing and she seems to do the same with clothes, shoes, furniture pieces etc...

When ever I notice something new like shoes or a sofa table I say "hey that's nice when did you get that" and she says "We've had that for months" or "I've always had these shoes I just don't wear them much" of course she JUST got it. So I do the same with HT gear. "Oh that, I got that amp over a year ago" .

I told my wife about two months ago I plan on building a 106" 16:9 screen and a getting a projector in Jan or Feb next year. She just said, OK. Last night I heard her on the phone telling a friend how cool a projector would be. My wife doesn't seem to care about the HT stuff, but I know she likes it. She just doesn't want me to know she likes it, so the game continues. 8)

Spending money and what I buy isn't really an issue for me!!
Meaning I spend a lot of money and buy lots of stuff.
I just need to make sure I keep it fair, in such that my wife gets her share of jewellry, cloths ,furniture decor ,home appliances, choice of vehicles etc...

The only time it becomes an issue usually is through my own guilt, when I know, I know I shouldn't , but do anyways (buy something new) ops:

Lex, to get back to your original post in this thread. I believe you were referring to how the FRONT PROJECTION dept. at HT Guide has caught on. This was probably due to the timing. Prices were just starting to get realistic for front projectors at the time you started up FRONT PROJECTION. I am glad it has caught fire and want to thank everyone here for posting. Front projection just happens to be my favorite topic.
But I guess you, and everyone else here, already knew that.

Front projection rocks!!Even more so that it is affordable for any budget one might have.

I can now put on a movie and get totally wrapped up in it without making adjustments in the audio or picture.

Even kind of lame flicks are fun to watch on a 92" screen.

With Halloween coming up October is horror flick month at my place. The wife and I are having a blast watching remastered DVD's of 70's and 80's horror flicks(The Howling,Hellraiser,The Thing,Halloween etc.)Many of these I haven't watched in years and when I did it was on a 27" TV with a VCR and no surround.

If you're thinking about getting into a front projo and have the room to do it,go for it you won't be dissapointed.

I hear you, George. It's fun to see all the guys here get excited about FPTV in the last few months, while some of the regulars and moderators have experienced first hand the growing pains and vast changes in what's offered over the years. You too, Dean.

Not that I'd call myself any kind of pioneer in that regard, but maybe having my first FPTV in '86 shows that I do suffer occasionally from early adopter's disease- I've learned my lesson in that regard, and stay away from a lot of the new fangled gear like PDA's and cell phones...

Its great that there is an increase in interest in FP on this forum.
This is nothing new and has been going on for a few years now but really finally seems to be heating up over here.
The proliferation can be seen with the increase in variety and availability of FP units many which are now being optimized for HT. This was not always the case and FP HT stemmed from corporate FP.
It's good news for all of us as the market increases, the costs go down etc.
We need to keep spreading the word.
If you are a FP owner it is your duty (LOL) to spread the gospel and show people the better alternative to RPTVs. Not one person has come over to my place and left thinking that PJs make a substandard image for the money and are like in the bars. It's a very common misconception that has been keeping FP subdued to some degree. Of course I'm not saying it is for everyone but I'll bet more RPTV owners than not never looked at FP since they just did not know and/or did not have the opportunity.
So if your buddy is considering a new set invite him over to see your FP. This is how the war is won. It's also a pile of fun when thier jaw hits the floor.

Up to 8 PJs running. That's sounds great, Claude. We need to see more AV dealers setting up PJ demo rooms. Most of the dealers ( except one) in Nova Scotia feature RPTVs in their demo rooms. If the consumer can't see, he/she ain't gonna buy.

At the store I work for we sell far more FP than RPTV.Once our demo rooms are done we will have no less than 8 FP's up and running at any given time(from the Infocus X1 up to the Sim HT 300).
OK Where do I send my resume? Sounds like a great job.
