NEC HT1000 DLP
I am passing my old Zenith crt along to one of my sons and will be installing the NEC probably early next month. I had originally planned to compliment my Sony VPL400 lcd with the new Sony HS 10, but (1) Too many lamp problems and other issues (2) Only 1 year warranty (3) Very difficult to get in Canada at a decent price.
The NEC is very tweakable, has a contrast ratio close to CRT. Best of all, I bought it from a dealer in Burlington Ont. at a price less than if I had bought it direct from the US ( after the dollar conversion).
I will continue to be a 2-Projector kinda guy. The Sony still gives a great picture and I have plenty of lamp life left on the one in the Pj, plus a brand new unopened one. For those that don't cotton to DLP, or see rainbows, I will use the Sony, but the NEC will be getting a lot of use from me.
It is 1024 x 768, so not high definition, but I really don't care as I won't be using it for tv viewing, strictly dvds. When dvd goes HD, the NEC panel will still offer better resolution that standard def dvd so I will be happy.
Now it's time to start revamping the HT.
