    Green bottom of screen

I hope this is the correct place for this question.

Hi all, my TV is starting to act up in a weird way. I have a green blob in the bottom right hand corner (kinda like old CRT's with unshielded speakers next to the screen). During white scenes the white appears the have a greenish blue tint to it.
This TV is only a few months old and does have the after market warranty. It happens with all video sources as well. Anyone know what the problem can be?

    Thank you all,
    Don

Sure sounds/looks like an unsheilded speaker problem. Is your Mits a crt ? How close to your tv is your subwoofer ? I had a problem you described once with a Panny CRT RPTV and found that the sub was the culprit. I moved it farther away from the tv and the discoloration disappeared.

The WD-52526 is a LCD RPTV.

It could be dust in the optics, or a defect in the LCD panel. Can you take a pic of the discoloration? If you have a warranty, I'd have a tech come fix it.

LCD ? Do they use polariser plates in RPTVs the way they do in front projectors ? Bad polariser plates are a common problem with many lcd projectors, but ususally happen over time. Kevin's suggestion to get it serviced while under warranty is a good one.

dust could be a problem, i live in Reno Nevada, it can get dirty out here. when i assembled my entertainment center, i vacuumed the dust prefilter, the filter had some dust on it, but it was not clogged. Thanks guys for your input on this. I'm calling the tech today.

I would favor the odds heavily that you have a dust blob.

I have the exact same problem.

              d,

I am experiencing this exact same problem on my wd 52528. It started occurring about 2 weeks ago. I have a green transparent line about 3/4" wide and 10" long in the lower right hand corner. What have you found out about it? I am taking mine to a tech this week to have them look at it. Please let me know what you have found out so we can get to the bottom of this.

Hi all! I have not been online very much as of late. Just now had the TV inspected (damn RC W). The techs told my wife that the Light Engine was out and need to be replaced. So the techs took my TV and said it will be about a weeks time before it was fixed. Now I think I will have to watch the big game on my older XBR 36".... I was told, essentially I will have anew TV after all said and done.

Thanks for the reply. No, I haven't found out anything yet because the place I plan on taking it to get looked at is several weeks behind. Light engine.?.? How much is that gonna cost to replace? Did your green blob ever get worse or did it always stay the same size and color? I would like to take a picture of my TV and let you look at it and tell me if yours looks the same. Tonight I'll take a pic and post it in this forum.

my blob did not get worse, but did appear in other spots of the frame. it will cost me nothing since i have the extended rcw warranty. problem is, that they have had my TV for over a week now, that means no super bowl at my house. for some reason i think the TV repair guys mits had sent out are full of crap..... i will keep you updated.

Any new news about the repair?

I am finally able to take my set to the repairman today so maybe I will find something out about mine soon. Has yours been repaired?

Great, hope it is as easier than mine. I was supposed to have my TV back in my house today. I called the repair people, and they still have not received a replacement part. I called RC Willey to tell them I am very pissed off now and want a different TV. I am now waiting for a call back from a manager.

I hope all goes well with getting a replacement. I took mine to the shop yesterday and they gave me a loaner that is the exact same tv. I get it home, hook it up and the picture on the loaner is much much better than mine. I looked at the settings on it and they are almost identical to what mine were. Who knows...maybe I bought a lemon. I'll let you know what happens.

It sounds like your light engine has gone bad. I had a very similar problem with my Hitachi. The only fix was to replace the light engine. It is about a $1000 part. Mine was out of warranty, but when I called Hitachi they agreed to pay for the materials if I paid for the labor. I cost a couple hundred bucks, but it works like a new TV. I actually think my picture is better than before. It was in the shop for about a week for the repair.

Well the place I bought my TV from is giving me the option for a TV replacement. Same TV or a new one at the same value. I paid roughly 2k for my TV. Should I stay with this unit? If not, what would you all recommend as a replacement? Thanks for all who has contributed to my post,
                                        Don :T

As it turns out, I was just being strung along by RC Willey. They called me today and said the repair shop just got my part in and I should have my TV in a couple of days. This to me, in my opinion is just terrible customer service. I sure hope the TV has a better picture than before.

                                                TV is Fixed.

Or at least that is what they say. I got a call from the repair shop yesterday and they said that all it needed was a cleaning and that it is ready to be picked up. I haven't seen it yet and I am a little leary about bringing it home before looking at it. Do you think I should ask them to hook it up and play it for me at the shop so I can look at it with my own eyes? I still find it hard to believe that dust was causing all of my problems.

I hope your TV is in great shape when you get it home. I have heard that dust can produce the same problems as a failing light engine. I think that the repair guys trashed the light engine while maybe trying to clean it....

I got my TV back yesterday.

OK...I got my tv back and there are no blotches and there is no green line. I spoke with the repair man and he told me that there was fine dust on my lcd screens. I asked him why there was a green line on the lower right hand part of the screen and he told me that dust had accumulated on the red and blue screens but there was no dust on the green screen..hence green light was passing through and making a green line visible. He told me that the rptv's are notorious for dust buildup and therefore they have to be cleaned fairly often. I wish I would have known this before I bought it because I may have bought a flat screen since they don't have the same problem. All is good for now or at least until I have to buy a replacement bulb. Does anyone know where I can get the best deal on replacement bulbs?...Anyone?
