    Sreenplay 5700

Does anyone have any experience witht the Screenplay 5700, as I am looking at making a purchase on one.

I havn't seen one in action, but all the reviews have said it is a top class projector. The only concern I have is witht the throw distance of the projector, seems to be quite long, especially for a smallish room. Does anyone use one in a small room as I only have about 12ft of distance to play with.
What is the image like on it?
Are all Projectors in that price range, pretty much the same?
Is this a decent projector foe day use where the ambient light is not as controllable?

Philo, as I mentioned in your other thread below, the 5700 is not HD. It is 1024 x 576p, which will be fine for dvd but with HD DVD just around the corner, you want to consider a 1280 x 720p projector. And you say you have to work within 12 feet, but the lens throw calculation on the 5700 says that the smallest 16:9 picture is 61" wide and the shortest throw for this size picture is 13 feet, so I'd say this PJ is not for you. As for brightness, I understand the 5700 is quite bright.

Also, according to Panasonic 900 specs, that PJ at 12 feet will only give you a 53" wide picture.

Most people with front projection use a minimum screen size of 72 inches wide otherwise you are not really taking advantage of what front projection can offer. With a picture size of 50 to 60" you may as well settle for a plasma or some kind of RPTV.

There are plenty of short throw projectors available in both lcd and dlp, Philo. Take a look at the Projector Central website. They list most projectors available today along with msrp prices, and best of all each PJ listed has a throw calculator. The Sanyo, DelRay mentiones above is an example of short throw PJs.
