ooops, hit wrong button on DVD can't fix

    Hey all

well, being the retard i am, playing around with the settings on my Arcam dv29, i am using an LG 50" plasma with the HDMI cable,

i mistakenly switched it to pal, or something, now i have no picture from my DVD player, and i can't access the menu to change it back, doesnt seem to be any way to just reset it to factory specs either

any suggestions, other than shooting it

    :-)

seems like the front panel would display the settings menu at least, but it doesnt, so i am kinda screwed unless there is another way to reset the video

any help, as alway's mucho appreciated

    Kurt

Does the manual have the menu layouts? You might be able to follow it blind and get to the proper setting.

If not, does someone else have the same player and can give the sequence of commands to get to the proper option?

I suppose, if worst came to worst, find a display that is PAL capable and hook up to that temporarily. Try some unusual possibilities: your camcorder, a VCR, a friend's TV, a computer video capture card, etc.

I'm surprised that didn't work..... Are you sure you switched to a composite input, not component?

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer and/or your dealer to see if they have any ideas?

                      Hey Jason,

i think why that didnt work, is the player is still sending out a pal signal, no matter what cable i use, i tried them all, component,s-video, blah blah blah,

                      Hi Kevin

i tried doing it thru the menu, but it doesnt respond to that either

called the usa distributor, the UK distributor, havent been called back yet, i did recieve an email from the UK maker of arcam, his email was stupid, told me to go into the settings menu and change it back, like duh, wouldnt that be nice, he said if that didnt work to call the usa distributor

British guy's, no wonder we kicked them out back in 1776, hahahha

oh well, maybe it's a subliminal message, take it back, buy the Krell DVD standard, just a little more money anyway

                      thanks for all the help

                      Kurt

Any chance you can change the setting on your display to receive PAL? Maybe something through a service menu?

Besides being in Canada it's probably a lot easier for me to get those Cubans than it is for you

yeah, but i can get them cheaper, that cigar tax is a real killer in Canada

                              :-)

Hong Kong, great choice, and cheap price,

if they would make em legal, i wouldnt smoke em anymore, take the fun right out of it
