Infocus 4805

I have been very pleased with my Infocus 4805, but recently I noticed that the upper left corner of the image had a shaded area. The color was still good , but there that area of the screen was noticeably less bright. I also noticed that on power up before the lamp became too bright to look at, when I looked directly into the lens, it seemed that there was something obscuring a portion of the lens aperature. This was on the upper right side of the lens, and the shaded part of the image on screen was on the upper left side of the screen. Could something in the lamp housing be getting into the way? Has anybody had a similar problem?

I read somewhere where a fellow with a dlp projector had a similar problem. One corner of the projected image was somewhat discolored. He took his projector apart and saw that the dmd mirror was dirty. He cleaned it and all was okay. But the thought of getting that deep inside the projector would scare the heck out of me. This may or not be the problem with your 4805. If it's still under warranty why not take it in for servicing .

Hi all! New here, great site. Didn't want to start a new thread since you guys have talked so much about the 4805 elsewhere. Just wanted to comment about it and ask a question or two about my hopefully soon to be HT setup.

Been finishing my basement off and on for almost a year now with the help of some very qualified friends and free labor. (Food and beer notwithstanding). Drywall is soon to go up. Couldn't wait for the HT to get done before I bought the 4805 after reading lots of forums, reviews, etc. Despite my best efforts, couldn't wait for the HT to get done before ripping open the box and seeing how this thing looks. So, I set it up on our family room coffee table and threw the image up against the off white painted wall of my nearly year old house. Ran a cheap video cable straight from my cable box to the pj. OMG!! This thing rocks even with no screen! It's just amazing to me. Now I'm in real trouble. My wife will not be able to settle for our old reliable 57" Mitsubishi after seeing this behomoth 8' x 4' beautiful image on our wall. I can't get her off the couch! Her neck is locked into this inverted v position and her eyes are as big as saucers. She's a huge Olympics nut and she now only looks away long enough to glance at you while making a loud a "Shhhh!" sound. LOL I can't wait to see what this thing really looks like against a screen.

My local HT place has recommended the following audio setup for my room. The HT will be 20' long, 12' wide, with a 8' ceiling. I wanted to spend less than 5k to outfit my HT with PJ and audio. The HT store's opinion is that my speakers and receiver should be top notch from the start since that's what we respond to the most as audience members and since the pj can always be upgraded down the road. So here's what they came up with:

Speakers: RBH found HERE
MC4C fronts
MC-414C center
TS-12 AP sub
MC 414 sides
MC 414 rears

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V757 shown HERE

I can get all this stuff online within my budget, but not from the local HT store. Just wondering if any of you use these speakers or this receiver and how you like them. Love the 4805, can't wait to really see it in action with my screen and all the other goodies to come. If my post is misplaced since I'm asking about the audio stuff, I apologize. Just wanted to let everyone know that I don't think you can beat the 4805 if you're on a budget despite some of the minor annoyances already mentioned elsewhere here.

I have the rxv-9000 a bit older but very similar, pretty happy with it but hope to upgrade to seperates. My only concern with this would be trying to drive those speakers without amps... If you are not looking to have seperate amps, I would look for a more efficent speaker. I run Klipsch KLF-30 mains..

The MC4C has a sensitivity of 84 where my klipsch is at 102..

I dont think you would be happy with this setup unless you add some amps.
Or look into a more efficent speaker..

I'm not a big hi-fi or DIY guy and really am still just learning about this stuff. When you talk about sensitivity, are you saying that the RBH speakers will require more amps than the receiver will provide to get sound good? I ask because the dealer specifically recommended those speakers (and that receiver for those speakers) as more than adequate for my room size and said I would have a huge wow factor without needing external amps. Think they're just trying to sell me stuff without really taking care of my needs? I have no idea who to believe hence the questions and more research.
